If you visited the Hive Engine marketplace you'll notice that the prices of both DEC and SPS had gone down quite a bit. And we all know what that means, right?
Yeah, it means that now's a good time to stock up on the aforementioned tokens. But what should you buy? DEC or SPS?
If you have the money, buying both wouldn't be a problem since you can't really go wrong with either tokens.
But if you're like me and your funds is limited then buying both tokens might not be an option. So choosing just one token might be the best choice.
That being said which token should you buy?
Personally, I prefer DEC over SPS since it's a lot cheaper, and gives 1=1 SPS airdrop points which mean that the more DEC you have in your Splinterlands' wallet, the more SPS you're gonna receive in the airdrop.
On the other hand, SPS is the more valuable token as it has limited supply unlike DEC which could be printed nonstop.
Moreover, to be able to buy the Chaos Legion card packs, one needed to have vouchers which could only be gathered through the voucher airdrop. And be legible for the airdrop, one must have SPS stakes.
Then there's the fact that the devs has other plans for SPS which could potentially make it more valuable in the future.
At a glance, SPS seemed like the best choice of the two tokens. And in the long run that might actually be the case.
But if we're to talk about short-term gain, I think DEC is actually the best choice. The reason for this is simple -- DEC allows players to accumulate a lot of SPS by simply holding DEC in your wallet.
That being said if you're interested in long-term gain and the ongoing pre-sale, you might want to buy SPS instead.
Currently, I'm holding a lot more DEC than SPS. I have 27,000+ DEC versus my 144 SPS staked. Moreover, 95 of those SPS were bought just two days ago.
Don't misunderstood though; me having more DEC doesn't mean that I value DEC over SPS. I simply prefer DEC right now because of the SPS airdrop.
A month or two before the end of the airdrop I would start converting my DEC into cards. Yes, I'm stocking on DEC so that I could buy cards in the future. Of course I might also swap some of my DEC to SPS so I could stake them since I liked passive income not to mention there's still the issue of the vouchers.
Anyways, I'll probably be buying more DEC to increase my holdings and get more SPS airdrop points in the days to come.
That's all for now. Cheers!
Great write up. That said one thing I think would be helpful for your readers to understand is how the DEC distribution algorithm works. Since the token is constantly increasing in supply it can also be a dangerous token to "invest" in. Either way though, for the time being those sweet airdrop points are nice.
