Grinding for Common Rewards
Elves are like trees, grounded and focused from the trunk down but graceful and agile on top. - Orlando Bloom
────────────◈◉◈────────────One thing I learned from playing Splinterlands for a year is that there is a massive strength in numbers. While you can win with a few units, it doesn't stand a chance when you have a lot more units than your opponents and those units and your summoners work really well.
I can always prove this with my second in command, Obsidian. Obsidian's build is not complicated. Just slap in a lot of units with magic attack and your chance of winning each fight will be high.
The other component for the success of this is unit levels. The higher the unit's level, the higher its stats will be while also getting more abilities as well. I just simply applied this to my strategy with the Rewards Shop every week.
Common Rewards are cheaper |
Every draw only needs you 150 Glint. This is probably what appealed to me the most. Think about it. Would you rather have a single card for 35,000 Glint or 233 cards for the same cost?
While it needs more cards to level up the common units and summoners, since the cost per card is way less, it also means you get more cards than usual. |
There's power in Levels |
Have you had a battle where you have a level 1 Legendary unit and it was completely defeated by a single max level Common or Rare unit? By the time you purchase your one legendary reward unit, I have my Common units at at least level 3 for each. By the time you get each of your legendary reward units to 2, I already have all of my Common Reward units to max. Now, which do you think would win? Your level 2 legendary unit or my level 10 common unit? |
There's power in Numbers |
My Obsidian is my backup summoner. When I cannot use whatever I rented due to the rule set or elements active for that battle, I always revert back to Obsidian.
Common Rewards has two very strong units that complements Obsidian, Blackmoor Wild Elf and Ujurak Elder. The reason these two are strong is the same reason why Djinn Biljka is strong - that is the presence of Camouflage. [Biljka xxx] With Camouflage, I have these three units unable to be targetted. The enemy needs to kill first whatever strong tanky unit I lay in front of them and until they get past those, these three will be unharmed while they blast off their enemy's head from a safe distance. |
Final Thoughts
I'll be honest. While I said a lot of big words and explanation, my train of thought is simple. I played a lot of MMORPG like Diablo, FLYFF and World of Warcraft.
There's something in common that all of these games taught me that I always applied to my account.
Due to Splinterland's level up system, this is also the same and can also be applied. So, get the cheapest units in order to level up them faster. That's it.
