New players always ask, can you make money in this game? I'm here to tell you there are more ways than you could possibly think of on your first week of playing Splinterlands.
As the title suggests, there are X methods to make money on Splinterlands that I know of. My belief is that doing all of these at once should pay off really well in a long run.
Note that if you wish to create a sustainable income from Splinterlands, it is highly recommended to invest some money into the game. You have to spend a little to be able to earn money later on, just like everywhere else.
With that out of the way, here's where I see earning opportunities.
#1: Invest in SPS and stake it
It's as simple as it sounds. Buy SPS with your Metamask, transfer it to in-game wallet and stake it to get ~220% APY. Although it's going down, it's still a lucrative offer.
Mind that unstaking takes 4 weeks with 1/4 of tokens unlocked each week. However, rewards that you get from staking can be used anytime, freely.
#2: increase daily airdrop rewards
For another 342 days, Splinterlands will be airdropping SPS tokens to all players, but you already know that. What you might've missed is that you can increase your airdrop points and boost the daily amount of SPS you get in several ways.
Buying cards, stacking DEC and participating in Splintertalk are the easiest way to get your airdrop points up without investing lots of money.
Here's the table from Splinterlands whitepaper that shows how airdrop points are counted:
#3: stake your staking rewards and daily airdrops
If you're doing the first two things I mentioned, now it's time to compound your earnings.
So, each day the airdrop arrives, claim it to your wallet. After that, claim the staking rewards as well. When all that is done, stake your new in-game balance again. Do this routine every day and you'll see your SPS amount climbing up very fast.
Don't forget to save up your DEC for the next day's airdrop!
#4: (re)sell cards
Once you buy some cards, o get a card that you already have from a quest reward, you can sell them at any time. You can also scout for good offers on low circulation cards that you believe will raise in value, buy them and sell them later.
You can do that on Splinterlands dashboard or on a 3rd-party site PeakMonsters to save on market fees.
#5: rent cards to other players
If you have a hard time selling cards and saying goodbye to them, another option is to rent them. Even if you spend some money to get a good card, it will pay itself off if you rent it for some time.
As for selling cards, PeakMonsters can also be used for renting them to others.
#6: Farm DEC by playing competitively
The higher your rank is, the higher are rewards. Rent some decent cards and spend some time playing and studying the game. Once you in a higher ranks and on a win streak, you can actually earn plenty of DEC.
Besides, if your rank leads you to top of your league, you'll earn lots of DEC at the end of a season.
#7: Invest in some quest potions
This is more of a gamble, but quest potions seem to be worth the money. For $0.75, you get 5 extra reward chests from your daily quest! That's 5 days worth of questing! From my experience, rewards are usually worth it the money and so I never do a quest without one.
However, it is worth buying only when using credits. Never use DEC to buy quest potions! The price of DEC doesn't reflect the real price in the market. Besides, DEC counts towards your daily SPS airdrop, so better save it for a rainy day!
#8: Refer friends to the game
By clicking on your profile name and selecting "Affiliate program", you can find your referral link. Share it with your friend that intends to play this game, and you'll get 5% of the lifetime purchases of card packs and Summoner spellbooks in credits.
That might not sound like much, but if you recruit a player that goes hardcore on the game, 5% will be enough to put a smile on your face.
#9: Participate in tournaments
If you're good at the game, tournaments might be a great way for you to make some extra $ in DEC. There's entry fee but it's usually not expensive at all.
