Any explorers that delve too deeply into the crypts, mausoleums, and necropolises of the world will find a foe they are unprepared for. Not undead, not liches, and not other monsters that can be found in the deep. Instead, tales are told of the crypt beetles. Enormous insects that are found feeding on the corpses within. Most explorers think they are a mere nuisance and will try to scare them away from whatever tomb they are choosing to rob.

But things don't end well for those explorers. These large beetles will defend themselves and their food aggressively. And any explorer that makes it back out alive will have impressive scars to show from the crypt beetle's bite.

I am always happy to see a nice Death creature, because I believe one of the strongest creatures are within these realms. As a 3 mana creature the Crypt Beetle is an easy choice in any low mana fight or when the team needs a cheap tank at the back to save the backline against Sneaky creatures.

Let's see his stats and abilities on all levels.

The Crypt Beetle is quite cheap and from Level 1 he receives the Shield ability, which will effectively reduce the damage from Melee and Ranged attacks. Unfortunately the Magic damage will destroy him on the spot as he got no protection against magic damage at all. (Sometimes you need to take a risk! 😉)

The extra armor from Level 1 is quite strong, because it allows the Beetle to dodge one strong attack completely. Quite useful creature for 3 only 3 mana.

Opportunity	Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.
Lost Magic	Monsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles.

Daria Dragonscale

I have chosen Daria, because she gives +1 melee damage to all of my creature and the Opportunity ruleset allows my team to attack from any position even from behind the tank.

As a Dragon Splinter she has a lot of powerful creature at her disposal and as such I have used one of the best creatures the Dragon race could offer. 😊

Djinn Chwala

The Djinn Chwala is my personal favourite creature within the Dragon Splinter. ❤️ He is a reliable tank with high armor and life, but his most important and best ability (even on Level 1) is Thorns. (When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.)

The only problem if the enemy brings Magic damage, but if the ruleset is Opportunity usually peoples tend to bring Melee creatures to take advantage on that.

Carnage Titan

The Carnage Titan is one of the best Airdrop ✈️ card for me so far. Yes, it is high cost (like the rest of the Dragon creatures), but under the right circumstances he is a Beast. When I pair him up with Daria his attack will be +3 on Level 1 and the Double Strike enables him to attack twice in each round, which is Insane! 😎

Furious Chicken

The Furious Chicken main role on Level 1 is to soak up one attack from any creatures from the enemy team. I put him on the third position after the Tank and Off-Tank, because the Opportunity rulset allows the enemy creatures to attack the first lowest HP creature in my team.

Crypt Beetle

The Crypt Beetle is a perfect bait and sometimes prove to be quite strong against Melee or Ranged attack, thanks to his Shield ability. It is well worth to put him anywhere in the back, because he can attack like the rest of my melee creatures, thanks to the Opportunity ability.

Cursed Slimeball

When the Furious Chicken dies mybe it will turn into a Cursed Slimeball, who knows? 😅, maybe because their role is quite similar in order to soak up one attack from the enemy. It costs 1 mana, but he has a +1 melee attack in exchange.

Carrion Shade

This was a low mana fight, so the Carrion Shade is just another "bullet eater", but because he has speed of 2, I did put him at the end in the hope, that the slow enemy creatures will miss him. (didn't happen! 🙃)

The fight was I expected even tough the enemy team brought a Disintegrator to weaken my Melee attacker. Luckily he managed only to negate my Daria ability, so all of my creatures could keep their nature given Melee damages.

In a lower mana fight the Cursed Windeku would be fatal for me, but the Djinn Chwala is an upgraded version of him and succesfully managed to overpower him. The star of this fight was clearly the Carnage Titan 🥇 beside Chwala 🥈, because it is very difficult to withstand so much damage in every round.

The Crypt Beetle in the enemy team soak up 3 attacks 😲, which could be a huge help if the enemy would bring Magic damage to hit under my armor. The Opportunity ruleset is quite tricky as it is paramount to place the creatures well in order to predict the attacks of the enemy creatures.
