Overview

Today I brought a battle with my favorite Summoner, which was Yodin Zaku from the Fire Splinter, because as an Untamed Summoner he will increase two different stats and give one important ability to his monsters, which is especially good in the Back to Basics ruleset! 🤩

My upcoming Battle ruleset(s)

RulesetDescription
Back to BasicsMonsters lose all abilities.
Even StevensOnly Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
CounterspellAll monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.

The mana cap for my next battle is 35, which is not that much especially in a battle where all the monsters will lose their abilities. There was only two Splinter available, so I choosed my favorite Summoner who might be able to turn the tide to my side. 😊

The back to Basics ruleset will eliminate all the abilities from the monsters, so it is important to choose monsters with very good stats to withstand the enemy damage.

I do not relly like the Even Stevens ruleset, because it only allows the use of the Even mana cost monsters, which makes it more difficult to assemble my team.

The Counterspell ruleset will give the Magic Reflect ability to all the monsters on the battlefield, so it is pointless to use any magic attack monster, because they will kill themselves if they hit their target. 😇

My lineup

image.png
Yodin Zaku is one of my favorite monster, because he gives +1 ranged attack and health to his monsters, but more importantly he also gives the Blast ability to all of his monsters, so they will be able to deal extra damage to the monsters adjacent of their target. 🤫
The Tusk the Wide cost only 6 mana, so it is a perfect fit as a tank into my team. On top of that he has a lot of health, which makes him to sustain a lot of damage. 🤗

The Molten Ash Golem is quite similar to the my Tusk the Wide, but the only difference is that he is a ranged attack monster, so without proper abilities he can not attack from the first position. 😋
The Supply Runner is an excellent budget friendly ranged attack monster, because he is cheap and has more than enough damage to use his Blast ability. 😄

The Scavo Firebolt work the same like the Supply Runner, because his mana cost is also low and as a ranged attack monster he benefits a lot from the stat increase that Yodin provides. 🤞
The Kha'zi Conjurer cost only two mana and has high ranged attack damage, because normally he has a very bad ability, which makes him to burn up from the second round onwards and he will take two damage by that. There will be 33% chance to spread this burn to his adjacent monsters, so this ability is pretty bad. Luckily the Back to Basics ruleset eliminates this ability and he will be able to use his plain stats at a cheap mana cost! 😊

The Spark Pixies has a lot of speed and ranged attack, so he is the perfect combination with Yodin. He is pretty safe at the back of my lineup, because his health is very low, but no one can touch him over there. 🤫

My opponent brought Tarsa, who is because my opponent also wanted to use the best ranged attack monsters from the Fire Splinter. The only problem was that Tarsa gives +1 melee and health to all of her monsters, which is not the best combination with rangers. 😊

Both of us brought high health monsters with decent armors as our tanks and by the end of the first round both of the tank got down to one health, but the main difference was that my Yodin and the Blast damage he provides to his monsters also damaged the monster behind their tank, which was essentially their off tank.

In the second round I straight away lost my Tusk the Wide and my Molten Ash Golem became my main tank and in return my team also managed to kill their tank as well, but luckily when their off tank (Tusk the Wide) fell into the first position he only had two health remaining.

Thanks to the Blast damage my team killed three of their monster in the same round and the fourth one fell into the first position where he was unable attack from as a ranged attack monster.

Their Spark Pixie tried all of his best to avoid dying and he managed to dodge three incoming attacks, but fortunately the fourth hit him and he got killed.

His last monster couldn't attack from the first position either, so my team easily managed to win this battle for me. 🤗

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy was to use Yodin and his Blast damage to cause extra damage in a battle, where none of the monsters has got any abilities, so only their raw power and stats will make any difference. The Blast damage gave a huge advantage over my opponent monsters, because the indirect damage from this ability was a lot to sustain. 🤩
