CHALLENGE RULES
RULESET: Close Range
Units with ranged attacks are allowed to attack in the first position.
Ruleset and lineup
The ruleset of the battle is as follows:
Aim True - Attacks always hit their target.
Ferocity - All Monsters have the Fury ability.
Close Range - Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
Mana Cap of 21.
Available Splinters- Fire, Water, Earth and Death
My Team:
Summoner: Lux Vega (+1 to Speed, +1 to Armor, +1 to Health)
1. Cruel Sethropod - Melee Damage Dealer
2. Tide Biter - Melee Damage Dealer with the Reach, Reflection Shield and True strike abilities
3. Merdhampir - Ranged Damage Dealer with the Life Leech, Cripple and Snare abilities
4. Uraeus - Melee Damage Dealer with the Sneak and Poison abilities
5. Pelacor Bandit - Melee Damage Dealer with the Sneak and Flying abilities
6. Torrent Fiend - Melee Damage Dealer with the Tailwind ability
Strategy:
I chose a pretty standard chaos legion water strategy for low mana battles. Some sneak attacks and some front attacks. Except for putting the Merdhampir not as far back as I usually would, I pretty much ignored the rulesets.
Position 1 - Cruel Sethropod:
Great low mana tank with a high amount of hitpoints and armor.
Position 2 - Tide Biter:
Obvious choice for the second position because of the reach ability.
Position 3 - Merdhampir:
Usually this ranged unit would be either in fifth or sixth position, but in this close range ruleset the high amount of hitpoints and the lifeleech ability led to the choice to put it in the third position to keep Uraeus and Pelacor Bandit out of harms reach (from front attacks) for a while longer.
Position 4 - Uraeus:
Sneak attack Monster with the ability to poison, depending on RNG a very powerful combination. Because there will be no misses in this match, slightly more powerful than the Pelacor Bandit in my opinion.
Position 5 - Pelacor Bandit:
Usually in the back because of the decent dodge chance, but in this aim true ruleset that doesn't really matter. So the reason the bandit is in the back and not Uraeus is just the extra hitpoint.
Position 6 - Torrent Fiend:
Sneak protection but the Tailwind ability is of course a pretty nice extra in this ruleset.
Round 1:
My opponent starts with a speed advantage so I'll have to take most attacks before my monsters do anything. Luckily 4 out of 5 attackers are Ranged and get reduced to 1 damage because of my Torrent fiends Tailwind. Sadly my Torrent fiend dies this round, but so do 2 of the opponent monsters.
Round 2:
The Scatter ability on all Monsters doesn't help my opponent and splits the damage on all of my Monsters while mine take out two more of the opponent Monsters.
Round 3:
The third round isn't much of a battle anymore, it is only 5 vs 2 for a short while as the Pelacor Bandit start the round by taking out the opponents Ureaus.
Result:
It almost seemed like my opponent didn't pay attention to the Aim True ruleset. The Chaos Agent in front followed by the Flame Mephit - both fast with the extra 25 bonus to dodge through the Flying and Dodge abilities and the Backfire ability to damage Monster that miss. Without the Aim True ruleset the outcome of this match would have been entirely up to RNG and probably slightly in favour of my opponent. But with the Aim True ruleset active - it was a certain victory.
