Over the past few articles, I've been covering which cards will no longer be viable for play in Modern League format in Splinterlands. Following up on yesterday's article on the Fire Splinter, we'll talk about how Earth Splinter is doing in Chaos Legion.
Any opinion I make about the cards is based on my experience in silver and bronze. Some of these cards might be amazing in gold or higher, but I don't have experience at those levels. Consider this a guide for silver and bronze players.

Let's Recap the New Ruleset for Chaos Legion Modern League Format
OK, we're not actually losing any cards. All cards will still be viable in one of two different leagues, Modern and Wild. Being a relatively new player, I don't have any alpha, beta, or older cards so I've decided to stick it out in the Modern League.
You can only use cards from the Untamed Edition, Azmare Dice, and Chaos Legion Editions in the Modern League. So no Alpha, Beta, or Promo cards will be allowed. This also means the "starter" cards will be changing as well.
Now that we understand what editions are playable, how does this affect the Earth Splinter?
What Common Cards is Earth Splinter Losing?
You will no longer be able to play Minotaur Warrior, Goblin Shaman, Goblin Chef, Rexxie, and Flesh Golem in Modern League once Chaos Legion is released.
Goblin Shaman and Flesh Golem are amazing cards that I play all the time when using Earth Splinter. The other 3 cards are decent but not that big of a loss for bronze and silver matches.
What Rare Cards is Earth Splinter Losing?
Earth is losing Stonesplitter Orc, Stone Golem, Earth Elemental, and the summoner Lyanna Natura. This isn't that big a deal for me. I rarely play any of these cards except Earth Elemental. 90% of the time I'll use Mylor for a summoner so losing Lyanna isn't that big a loss for me or most other silver players.
What Epics Cards is Earth Splinter Losing?
Once Chaos Legion is live you won't be able to play Magi of the Forest, Swamp Thing, and the summoner Xander Foxwood during Modern matches. I really like Swamp Thing and he's an extremely effective card. It's going to be hard to replace that card. The other two are easily replaceable by other cards already in Earth Deck.
What Legendary Cards is Earth Splinter Losing?
Minotaur Warlord, Spirit of the Forest, and Prince Rennyn are all extremely good cards that will no longer be playable in Modern Leagues. While these cards are awesome, they are almost overkill for bronze and silver leagues and I rarely rent them unless I see an amazing deal. Higher leagues will definitely miss these cards.
What do we know so far about Earth Splinter for Chaos Legion?
Earth has 3 new cards so far, Pelacor Mercenary, Venari Seedsmith, and Djinn Biljka.
Pelacor Mercenary (common)
This looks to be a new tank card for Earth. While it does have a healing ability, you can't get it until level 6. This makes the card subpar for bronze and silver. Since there's no heal, he's not a viable alternative to a level 3 Flesh Golem tank.
Venari Seedsmith (rare)
Venari Seedmith has good damage and scavenge ability. This can make him great for poison matches but he's just an average card. He does get poison at level 5 which could make him a little better but that's a lot of cards to burn just to get poison.
Djinn Biljka (legendary)
This legendary card feels more like an epic at most. It has low mana but low speed, attack, and health. While it can't be targeted due to the camouflage ability, there are countless other 3 mana cards I would play before this card. Yes, it has the void ability to protect against magic at level 2, but not many players in silver are going to have this dude at level 2.
I guess if you pair him with Llama to get the last stand ability, he is much better, but for bronze and silver, it's much easier and cheaper to run Mylor than Llama as the summoner.
How does Earth Splinter look right now?
So Earth is losing one of the best tanks in the game in Flesh Golem. Other key cards that will be gone include Goblin Sorcerer, Earth Elemental, Lyana Natura, Swamp Thing, Minotaur Warlord, Spirit of the Forest, and Prince Rennyn.
The new reward cards for Earth are below average as well. At least for bronze and silver leagues.
But, Earth is keeping two of the most powerful summoners in the game, Mylor and Llama. Kron is still in the game and many other excellent epic, rare, and common cards.
Even with the losses and poor reward cards, Earth looks to still be one of the most powerful decks in the game.

Interesting take on the cards, PELACOR MERCENARY represents that FLESH GOLEM for me which made me buy it at level 6, even though I can't use it now since my summoner is level for it was a move towards level 6 I made now.
Will be interesting what the future holds once chaos is unleashed
Yeah he will be a good replacement up in gold league. Hopefully they'll have something similar for the lower levels once the new cards are announced.
