Hello my dear people, happy Thursday for everyone who reads me and welcome once again to my art blog, today I come with full batteries recharged to share with you a new fan-art in which I was working during the weekend for the dynamics of #Splinterlands; the card I decided to choose was one of the first I saw when I met the game for the first time. It is (Tortisian Fighter) and this is a kind of Turtle creature with a very humanoid shape, with the ability to transit and move through the seas and oceans; but always living between both ecosystems (underwater and terrestrial).
Hola mi querida gente, feliz jueves para todos los que por aquí me leen y sean bienvenidos una vez mas a mi blog de arte, hoy les vengo con las pilas full recargadas para compartirles un nuevo fan-art en el que estuve trabajando durante el fin de semana para la dinámica de #Splinterlands; la carta que decidí elegir fue una de las primeras que vi cuando conocí por primeras veces del juego. Se trata de (Tortisian Fighter) y esta es una especie de criatura Tortuga con forma muy humanoide, con la habilidad de transitar y desplazarse por los mares y océanos; pero siempre habitando entre ambos ecosistemas (submarino y terrestre).
PROCESS / PROCESO
The first thing I did to start with my drawing was to try to build a character that I liked and that at the same time had a special touch, the appearance of this character keeps a little similarity with the ninja turtles; so I focused a lot on giving him a different and unique appearance, with features much more in line with what this card represents. The choice of colors was a bit more complex, but I could make use of some swampy green tones that I had forgotten in my color palette hehehe.
Lo primero que hice para empezar con mi dibujo fue tratar de construir un personaje que me agradara y que el mismo tiempo tuviera un toque especial, la apariencia de este personaje guarda una pequeña similitud con las tortugas ninjas; así que me enfoqué mucho en darle un apariencia distinta y única, con unos rasgos mucho mas acordes a lo que representa esta carta. La elección de los colores fue un tanto más compleja, pero pude hacer uso de algunos tonos verdes pantanosos que tenían olvidados en mi paleta de colores jejeje.
First I dedicated myself to create the color bases for the body and clothing of (Tortisian Fighter), this was something simple since I only used a flat brush and some watercolor strokes, after having the bases well defined I could start to create texture and volume; the first part I chose to build the volume was the skin, this took me at least 3-4 layers with their respective blurs to soften a little.
Primero me dedique a crear las bases de color para el cuerpo y la vestimenta de (Tortisian Fighter), esto fue algo sencillo ya que solo utilice un pincel plano y algún que otro trazo con las acuarelas, luego de tener las bases bien definidas ahí si pude empezar a crear textura y volumen; la primera parte que elegí para construir el volumen fue la piel, esto me llevo al menos unos 3-4 capas con sus respectivos difuminados para suavizar un poco.
After finishing with the skin of (Tortisian Fighter) the next thing was the texturing of the clothing or costume of the character, for this I had the idea from the beginning to build a somewhat old and worn clothing, very much in the style of an old sailor or a fisherman who spends all his days on the coasts; I used many pale brown, sandy and olive green tones to create the clothes as I wanted. Then using a rough brush along with the watercolor I was giving it a little more worn texture while blending and blurring everything a little bit.
Luego de terminar con la piel de (Tortisian Fighter) lo siguiente fue el texturizado de la vestimenta o traje del personaje, para esto tenía la idea desde un inicio de construir una ropa algo vieja y desgastada, muy al estilo de viejo marinero o un pescador que pasa todos sus días en las recorriendo las costas; use muchos tonos marrón pálidos, arenosos y verdes olivas para crear la ropa como yo quería. Luego usando un pincel rugoso junto con la acuarela fui dándole textura un poco mas desgastada mientras mezclaba y difuminaba un poco todo.
The next step in the process was the painting of other details of the character such as his hat and spear, for the hat I focused on creating a kind of texture of old and cracked wood material; I added a lot of high gloss and a couple of layer effects to highlight it a little bit. Finishing with the hat I proceeded with the spear, for this I used several dark tones to build a more solid and intimidating spear; for the tip of the spear I used many shades of light gray to give the impression that the tip of the spear is extremely sharp and ready to be used.
El siguiente paso en el proceso fue el del pintado de otros detalles del personaje como lo son su sombrero y su lanza, para el sombrero me enfoqué en crear una especie de textura de material de madera vieja y agrietada; añadí muchos brillos altos y un par de efectos de capa para resaltarlo un poco. Terminando con el sombrero proseguí con la lanza, para esto use varios tonos oscuros para construir una lanza un poco mas solida e intimidante; para la punta de la lanza use muchos tonos de gris claro para dar la impresión de que la punta de la lanza está sumamente afilada y lista para ser usada.
Then I finished a little bit creating the shell in the back with more green tones with effect, and for the final part I focused on building a background that would serve as a stage for my work; being this an aquatic character it was obvious that the stage should be oriented to it. That's why I created in the back and around some rocks which protrude from the depths of the sea, and on which he (Tortisian Fighter) perches to observe from a higher and calmer point all his surroundings; this took me about 5 layers, several brushes and 3 effect modes to get that appearance of water as I wanted it.
Luego termine un poco creando el caparazón en la parte de atrás con mas tonos verdes con efecto, y ya para la parte final me centre en construir un fondo que sirviera como escenario para mi obra; al ser este un personaje acuático era obvio que el escenario debía estar orientado a ello. Fue por eso que cree en la parte de atrás y alrededor algunas rocas las cuales sobresalen de las profundidades del mar, y sobre las cuales se posa (Tortisian Fighter) para observar desde un punto más alto y tranquilo todo su entorno; esto me tomo unas 5 capas, varios pinceles y 3 modos de efecto para conseguir esa apariencia de agua como yo la deseaba.

Hahahaha that's right, as I read he's a pretty peaceful character, but at the same time a fierce fighter when needed.
