DEC or CARDS? What will be your Priority?

Hello guys it's me @Donzer here, your new guy in the Hive Blogging Community of Splinterlands. This is my fourth post in Hive as you can see on my profile and I hope you enjoy every blog posts I make cause actually I don't have any Idea how to create blogs. I only just share my personal opinions and experiences in playing Splinterlands and everything about my Hive experiences.

So no more further ado let us begin already. But first let's start from defining what are those things we are comparing.

Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) are Splinterlands' game currency. You earn DEC every ranked battle you win. You can also earn it on Daily or End of Season Rewards depending on your league. Here are some of the uses of DEC that I've encountered while playing the game:

  • We can use it to buy cards on Splinterlands Market.
  • We can use it to rent cards on Splinterlands Market.
  • We can use it to upgrade buildings on our Guild (if you have one).
  • We can hold it to obtain daily SPS Airdrops.
  • We can buy Credits using DEC.

**Cards **on the other hand, is the main NFT in Splinterlands. You cannot play the game without cards although there are cards that are so called "Starter Cards" that were given to you after you created an account. With the recent chaos legion updates these starter cards can only bring you as far as bronze 3.

As you can see Bronze 2 already requires you to have 1000+ power to enter that league. How you acquire that power? It's simple you only need to rent or buy cards on Splinterlands Market but in order for you to rent or buy something on the market, you'll need some in-game money like Credits or DEC.

For me personally, specially the situation here in my country there are so many talented and competitive Splinterlands player here that cannot afford to buy cards or card packs to own collection power. Instead they rent everyday power ranging from Silver to Gold grinding DEC per battles hoping they'll get back what they spent on renting and also hoping they'll get lucky on their daily rewards to gain profit on what they'll get by selling whatever cards they'll get. Some of them rent cards not for daily rewards but for bigger DEC rewards like the Leaderboard Rewards.

But if you are only a casual player like me and not so competitive like the others but you live here in my country and also can't afford to buy cards for power. My advise is that just enjoy the game even in bronze. For me, I keep on collecting the credits and cards I get on bronze. Then, I used my collected credits to buy cards I like to have my own collection power and I sell cards I don't like to buy another that I like. So that next time I only rent cards I needed for rank battles not for the collection power. Now I have 13k up power and still collecting for more cause I believe that cards are more important than DEC we get from grinding. Don't sell your Reward cards for low price in the market and rent again from scratch just to get another reward cards for you to sell on a low price. Are you not tired of grinding and selling and grinding and selling over and over again? I knew that reward cards as of now are in a very very low prizes even legendary ones. But thank me later if I'll tell you to just keep holding and combining that reward cards of yours. Eventually that card will soon be printed out and players will start burning it for a higher league play and you'll say to yourself that your glad you keep such cards.

Again this is Donzer signing out and wishing you have a good day. PEACE!!!
