Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
After recharging on the recent cosplay convention that I attended, I am now once more ready to invest my time to Splinterlands. I am happy that the contest theme is not that hard this time because recently, like the ambassador and the scholarship one? I really have absolutely no idea what those are about and so I just skipped it.
Now that everyone had fun irl, let's walk down the memory lane and see what we had achieved, the best games we had and our plans for the future.
"What was your most memorable battle from the last year?"
One of the most memorable battles for me happened less than 18 days ago. It was the time when Lorkus helped me get to Gold League which was a huge moment. I also broke away from relying on Obsidian and Earth magic units which expanded my strategy quite a bit. Right now, I'm on Gold 1 but I don't think I can get to Diamond before the next reset. I will, though, surely be Diamond by the end of next season.
Not every victory was dominant but using Lorkus gave me options with melee units as well. His ability boosts both magic and melee attacks which added more versatility to my team. Plus with abilities like Affliction, Life Leech, Trample or Fury that Lorkus can give to certain units, I had a lot more choices on how to approach each battle.
"What strategies or card combinations worked well for you?"
For me, Lorkus paired with Usut has been one of the best combos. Lorkus enhances Usut’s magic attack and grants abilities like Affliction and Life Leech which make Usut even stronger. The extra magic attack increases the effectiveness of Life Leech making Usut’s health grow with each attack.
This extra health works well with Usut’s Heal ability as the higher the health he has, the higher the heal he gets making sure he stays alive for long battles. The added damage also makes it easier for Usut to land the finishing blow allowing his Bloodlust ability to raise his stats even further. Altogether it’s a very powerful and effective combo that I rely on.
"What are your goals for the new year?"
Since I’m still relatively new to Splinterlands I want to explore all the different elements. I’m interested in seeing what each one has to offer and how I can use them in my strategies. So improving my overall gameplay is probably my main goal for the year.
I also want to build up my card collection and test out new card combinations. I’m especially curious to see how different elements can change my playstyle. I will still focus on magic attacks though because I think that part is so strong.
"How do you plan to achieve your goals?"
I plan to focus on experimenting with different card combinations but nothing too specific yet. Although I prefer using magic attacks I think it would be exciting if there were more attack types besides melee range and magic.
I hope the devs will try to introduce something like a poison attack instead of ability that stacks with each attack or a mud attack that slows down speed until it eventually starts affecting health.
I’ll also try to join more contests in 2025 to get more money for spending whenever possible. Some of the contests are a bit beyond my skill level at the moment like that ambassador and scholarship ones but I’m eager to improve so I can participate in the future.
