With a small stash of Glint I went ahead and added some commons to my collection.
I was able to pull a gold foil out of the batch buy. Overall I was not able to level up any of my new additions, but still they add up to and I will be able to level up them in the fute.
On the front of survival mode it appears there are more positive than negative news on the format.
I have started to plan on what cards I know I can play without effecting my rank battles. I am leaning toward closer to end of season to start survival.
In this new season playing at Diamond III and I am earning about 400 Glint and 4 Staked SPS per a win.
If DEC can raise in price I hope it will raise SPS prices and in turn rise Splinterland asset prices. We will have to wait and see as this new season plays out. Survival mode may effect the rewards distribution and so I will have to work around it when that comes.

That is an interesting idea. Survival at the end of the season doesn't sound like a bad idea after you reach a good stopping point in modern/wild. After all, the cards will come back when the season ends right?
Right, I heard its a five day cool down before cards can be reused. Often in beginning of seasons I do not play that many battles either due to the re-ranking.
