Strategy Corner #24- Heavy Hitters Ruleset - Is RNG god on your side ?

Heya Splinterlanders :)

We have another ruleset, which for me it is not so exciting. I could write exactly the same things like in previous Strategy Corner article, in short I do not even bother to note that ruleset in my battles database. Let's directly jump to definition and my some thoughts about it.

Description:

All units gain the Knock Out ability.

Be sure to include a unit with Stun in your lineup to trigger the Knock Out ability.

Firstly, the description of the ruleset in the game is not perfect, sometimes you got just general information which not giving you all information you need. Best way to read the full description as above from the game documentation at least once. You can check all here.

I seriously encourage you guys to check this site, additional information about stun here. Even more advanced players could find something interesting there.

I'm curios how often you try to set up full team to use this ruleset. Of course there are some option to use that damage boost, but because stun relies on RNG and in lower league it is not so common I usually do not pay much attention to it ;). In higher league I remember some nice strategy which could be use to get more advantage, and for sure there are much more units to use. For some recommendation I always admire you to check @iamgem005 article.

As always even with not so interesting ruleset I hope to present at least a more interesting battle. For today we got some nice ruleset combinations. Super Sneak and Equalizer, we have some discussion what is the best way to approach the equalizer ruleset, but the additional super sneak option change it a little bit. Let's see what we choose:

image.png

Opponents go almost full melee, with some nice choices (like Exploding Rats), I usually try to avoid melee monsters that could be easily countered. Here, hmm, maybe we will talk about it in battle analysis.

image.png

Round 2, we got a nice beating in round 1, of course, RNG wasn't on our side, we got stunned, the opponent was not. We lost our cannon fodder, but unfortunately, it's close to losing our very important range unit with Protect ability.

image.png

Round 3, his focus is quite good, too good, our triage ability is not fast enough here, finally, we managed to kill his tank, but Rats is so powerful :) And of course, our Tank is almost stunned every round :).

image.png

Round 4, Rats are still alive, it is not good information for us, even with life leech I don't think we could survive that.

image.png

Round 5 final blow - we managed to apply poison, but of course, we got stunned again, but overall the battle is over. GG for opponents, but let's jump to battle analysis.

I think this picture is enough, no more explanation is required:

Just the simple swap first and the last position. It's always so simple after the battle, but in that case, I just completely ignored that fact and it shouldn't have happened. I previously said that using a melee team, in that case, is easily countable, and I haven't used any monster to do it. This is unbelievable.
The opponent used quite a nice team, but still focused on 2 different targets, and cards like Orcs just kill that strategy. We talked about that cards recently , so in Core team section we focus on some other aspects of the death team :)

image.png

REVEALER, I really like this card, not because it has stun which I usually ignored here, but nice combination of stats. It would be perfect to get a higher speed, but you cannot get everything. I like to use that card on second/third position as some buffer to death life leech monsters. Of course, if I get the stun from it and additional with Heavy Hitter ruleset it will be perfect. But you have to have RNG god on your side :) I usually don't have :)

image.png

CORPSE FIEND we always forget how those type of cards are important in every battle. Like Chaos Agent, Chicken, fiends, or any other 0-1 mana cards are sometimes the key to winning the battle. For equalizer, ruleset is even more important to use as many monsters as you can to fill all your slots. Even with low mana matches it's the highest priority. And Fiends in the highest league are even more important bringing some ability to the table. Always remember about them :)

image.png

SPIRIT HOARDER, a small reminder of how important could be triage in battle when an opponent's focus fire is not optimal. As I was presented in equazlier match using it should be a mistake on your side, but it's the perfect punishment for a bad opponent's setup. In this battle should be even more important, but I that small detail I miss (orc as a last target), Spirit was too slow to be an effective healer. You need to always remember about every detail :(

Most of the rulesets give you some opportunity to use it to your advantage, some of them are just battle-defining and if you try to ignore them it will be not an easy way to win the fight. Heavy Hitters in my list is rather on the bottom of the table, definitely for the lower league I usually do not care about it. Not enough stun cards, still RNG-based ability, you usually cannot base your whole strategy on that. Of course, it could help from time to time, and definitely, you need to be more aware of it in higher-league matches.

I hope the next ruleset will be some juicy ones :)

We continue our game from the previous week, today new battle, new card to win :).

I come to some idea, I hope you will like them and participate. Every week I will publish one battle, and your goal is to point out the first victim of the battle and who will be the winner. This game is exactly the same as my prediction game which I run on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. I know that not everyone can attend the stream, so I hope you will still have fun in that way. More about the rules can be read here.

Among all participants who get the correct answer, I will randomly (probably on my Wednesday stream) choose one winner.

The prize of the blog prediction game for the lucky winner will be the epic card:

Here we got the battle from good old times when I played in champion league:

image.png

Game instruction:
Try to point out which monster will die first on the battlefield and who wins the battle

  • t - top player
  • b - bottom player
  • number - order counting from the first position

Examples:
t2b = monster on the second position of top player die first, the bottom player wins
b6t = monster on the sixth position of bottom player die first, the top player wins
t3t = monster on the third position of top player die first, the top player wins

Yeah that was a unfortunate mistake of misplacing Dumacke Orc. Otherwise the team was perfect. Such a shame..
