Hiya Splinterlanders :)
Good news everyone, lands 1.5 just landed in mav/test server, so probably we should see it in live version of the game at least next month. Of course, you should know that I'm not so excited about land expansion to the game. I tried to check in test server, but I was little overwhelmed, I cannot find easy way to figure all out, so after 10 minutes I close the tab :). It is for sure the biggest project so far for Splinterlands ecosystem, and I hope it will be the success, but I really waiting for some gameplay mechanic to the card game. I really look forward to see some new modes, more option of tournaments and some refreshing changes to the brawls. :)
And for today we got quite interesting ruleset - Reverse Speed, so without further ado, let's jump to ruleset definitiion.
Description:
Units with lower speeds will attack before units with higher speeds. Attack Accuracy based on speed will also be reversed.
Units with the Bloodlust ability will increase speed after killing a unit.
Avoid using Slow as this will help your opponent.
Firstly, the description of the ruleset in the game is not perfect, sometimes you get just general information which does not give you all the information you need. The best way to read the full description as above from the game documentation at least once. You can check all here.
I seriously encourage you guys to check this site, especially Attack Accuracy information , even more advanced players could find something interesting there.
Reverse Speed is quite a specific ruleset, you need to remember that all the attack speed rules are reverted, so for example melee attack goes first before range and magic. Another thing you need to pay better attention is summoner choice. A lot of summoners in the game have buff your speed ability or debuff the opponent speed, so sometimes is just better to use different splinter just to not buff your opponents team. My personal favourite is earth team, with a lot of good slow, heavy monsters, and of course Queen Mycelia which shines even brighter there. Depend of mana value, Grum and fire team could be a good choice, but after the change with Bloodlust ability, where monster now get speed buff even in reverse speed ruleset, I think it is now less popular.
Today's battle is Gold Wild Ladder match where opponents used higher level monster than me. Of course it's quite common to see that, but usually good silver level setup is enough to be able to win the battle. Let's check our line-up:
I have to say both team looked solid, even with counterspell ruleset I decided to use some magic monster, with weak magic and void ability from Immortalis reflect magic damage is still bearable. Opponent on the other hand had quite strong range units with very strong double tank setup. Cursed Windeku with the heal and Harklaw with shield could be not so easy to kill fast. Let's see how it turns out:
Round 2, no casualties in this round, we had to rely on our range units, magic damage is quite reduced. Fortunatly we have not received any reflect magic damage, because of Thadius debuff and void from Immortalis.
Round 3, definitely more exciting round, we lost our taunter, but we managed to kill Cursed Windeku. Fortunatly our tank has shield ability, so most of that strong range monster arent so dangerous. I hope we can deal fast with Usut, until it get any buff from Bloodlust.
Round 4, a lot of damage was blocked with Shield ability, so another round without any casualties. We have some speed advantage, we can talk a little bit more about it in battle analysis section.
Round 5, finally we lost our tank, Psychic Goblin with his tank heal ability made a miracle here. We manage to kill both tanks from opponents team and it's seems we got advantage here.
Final Blow - Round 6 - the damage output was quite reduced, because of only range units left on opponent's side. With mentioned speed difference we usualy was able to kill units before they even could attack, so finally we got final kill.
I think it was another presented battle, when lower level team was able to get the win. Of course, one of the reason is one of the best summoner in the game, at least from the last two sets: Immortalis the King. Even with not very favorable rulesets our Earth team was much better.
One more thing I want to mention about speed. I've heard that sometimes it is quite optimal to take lower level summoner to get lower level monster with lower speed (a lot of lower word :)). I haven't got occasion to test that method, maybe because on silver/brozne level it's not so big difference in speed among the monster, and my summoner choice isn't the greatest. I'm still waiting for option to choose whatever level of the monster you want to play, it was mentioned in Town Hall by Matt several months ago, and still we cannot do that (and it is even more important, because of martyr cards).
Back to analysis, earth team is quite superior, a lot of specific cards designed exactly for reverse speed (they don't get any more speed with leveling). Opponent's team was solid, I'm not the biggest fan of two tanks, where second don't have any option to attack, but sometimes it's necessary to get better protection to your range unit.
Reverse Speed ruleset is so specific, so some of those cards are good only in that specific ruleset, so let's see our choice here:
I think everyone knows how important is speed in Splinterlands battles. That's why Reverse Speed it so interesting ruleset, because it change the battle upside down. Now you can use the monster that usually you haven't even looked at in normal speed ruleset. And of course you need to be careful about your summoner choice, believe me, that one speed buff from for example Kelya makes a lot of difference.
And of course cross the fingers guys to see Land 1.5 update as soon as we can :). And then let's let Weirdbeard out of the closet :DI hope you like this kind of battle and strategy presentation. More strategy analysis, discussion, and prediction games you can find on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. You can check the schedule here

We continue our game from the previous week, today new battle, new card to win :).
I come up with some ideas, I hope you will like them and participate. Every week I will publish one battle, and your goal is to point out the first victim of the battle and who will be the winner. This game is exactly the same as my prediction game which I run on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. I know that not everyone can attend the stream, so I hope you will still have fun in that way. More about the rules can be read here.
Among all participants who get the correct answer, I will randomly (probably on my Wednesday stream) choose one winner.
The prize of the blog prediction game for the lucky winner will be the epic card:
Here we got the battle with the Reverse Speed ruleset:
Game instruction:
Try to point out which monster will die first on the battlefield and who wins the battle
- t - top player
- b - bottom player
- number - order counting from the first position
Examples:
t2b = monster on the second position of top player dies first, the bottom player wins
b6t = monster on the sixth position of bottom player dies first, the top player wins
t3t = monster on the third position of top player dies first, the top player wins
First time joining here in peakd. I think it is b1t.
thanks and welcome :) gl :)
