Yes, I know I promised the brawl summary, but you know what? Not today again :).
I think I got a pleasant surprise for you. For the first time on my blog you can read tournament report, but not like some random regular tournament. It was a special Chaos Legion Set Diamond Open tournament, which was hosted by the official Splinterlands channel especially for Chaos Legion Send off Event.
Open tournament is in my opinion one of the most interesting among all tournaments available in Splinterlands. You have access to all cards depend of the format, so in general you need to depend on you skill (and luck of course) , and not of your card collection.
Here you can watch the official coverage of this event:
The tournament was a great surprise for me, I have just noticed youtube notification in the browser, I opened that stream and at the same time Wierdbeard just announced that in a few minutes, the special open tournament will start. I haven't thought long, 2 clicks and I was ready to go :).
About one hour and a half later, we got the final results:
Let's start from the beginning:
Rather unknown opponent, first match. Ok, the tournament was practically free, but I really didn't want to drop in first match.
I saw No Armor ruleset, first thought new summoner Possibilus. Another thought opportunity monsters, I saw new reward cards Kulu Mastermind, on highest level he seems very strong, so far I tried it several times without much success. No risk no fun, as they say. I got something like this, you can watch full fight here.
Spoiler alert , I tried similar setup in final, guess with what result :)
Ok, now we have more space to breath. It's best of 3 match, so even if if lose one battle we still can win whole match.
I will present one match for each round up to final, in my opinion the most interesting. Here I tried new reward card, which as you can see it's quite strong in melee only ruleset. Opponent used very interesting line-up with additional gladiator card and nice armor counter versus Keyla, but It was not enough :).
Fight here.
We have just started and it is already 3rd round, Chaos Only Set format is one of my favourite, because my own collection is mostly cards from this set. I still do not play on highest level with my cards, I got rental account to play up to champion level, but I'm still quite familiar with the format.
You can watch fight here.
A lot of known name: Ptrek, Luthien, Dthoughstuff, Luistheaccttant, some of them were eliminated :).
We got another clean match victory, so far we have not lost any battle :).
Here, we have new meta fight: martyr cards :). Opponent used 2 of them, we just one, but I don't like how he set up their order.
Now is start to become serious, still undefeated :).
Fight of two new summoners, I hope you already know how good is Immortalis (if not you can go and check one of my strategy corner article, where we were talking about him).
I have to say load and clear I was very lucky in this round :). @nitroage is a great player, I have been fighting with him in many of regular tournaments. Both fights was in his favour, but luck was on my side. I would really prefer if the fight doesn't rely on pure luck, it could be resolve with like 10k battle simulation., but it's not the place and time for this kind of discussion :).
So here with my Jacek scattershot setup I was really lucky, overall I am not big fun of Jacek, too much RNG involved.
With the help of a nice dose of luck in the previous round, we have just landed in the final round. Here we got the best of five matches, so let's see how it went. I have to say that i haven't heard about @mr-kerad before, but I'm more familiar with silver level tournament players.
Opponent tried clever Quora strategy, but I think on higher level Quora is not so strong. There are too much firepower which is usually enough to kill her before she could heal enough to stay sustain. Maybe if I will use any cannon fodder monster in first position, outcome could be different.
Here we go with quite similar setups, summoners make a little difference, but overall chance are almost equal. Victory goes to my opponent :).
Another coin flip battle according to splintertool. Different splinter, but similar idea.
This time we have luck, winning now 2-1, need 1 more victory:D , sweating maybe a little. The prize for both 1st and 2nd place is the same, but I really wanted to win whole tournament.
In 4th battle I again wanted to try something new, and it was not a great choice :D. Similar strategy worked quite good in previous round, but still you have to be careful of using weapon training. Sometimes it does not work :).
Opponent team was very strong, a lot of buff / debuff (look how many icons are there). His/her gladiator card: Katrelba Gobson snowballed quite fast with bloodlust ability.
So after all it comes to the last 5ht battle of the final, and of course, all depend on a coin flip, very similar setups, I think we use all our luck on fight with Nitroage :(
So as you could see almost all the final games were very close, both of us put a nice setup, and with similar thinking, it all goes to rng :).
Congratulation to my all opponents, especially @mr-kerad in final, it was a good to match.
It was a crazy good time, a lot of fun. I think this kind of tournament should be available non-stop, with so many different formats available it could be just a great tool for new players to come and check how the game could look like when you have a big or full collection of cards.
I really looking forward to see more of this in future. Count on you @weirdbeard :D

Thank you, finals was very close. After the first three games I thought it was over. Then, I saw there were two more matches and luckily I won them. It was an interesting tournament, lots of fun and experimenting with new cards at the max level. Wish you all the best. Good luck!
