RE: Tournament Recap 4/9/22 - YGG SPL Weekend Challenge Week 11

Nice dude, great recap! I'll add some thoughts to some of your commentary.

Game 1 vs Schnapoon - This goes to show you what's going through the mind of top players. Schnapoon clearly reached a calculation where it was very likely Seamonster just takes over the game and so he ran an affliction to stop an opposing Seamonster.

I found a setup that was just slightly more optimal in that it could kill Seamonster anyway and then have Nerissa Tridawn's big body and magic damage while picking up a Pelacor Bandit for the extra flyer.

Game 2 vs Schnapoon - Ordinarily I think it's fair to say Kelya beats Tarsa, the Armor and Speed typically has more benefit than +1 melee attack and +1 HP. However, once everyone's armored up anyway due to the rules, I like Tarsa as you can still run a big Void tank in tusk the wide and you have a better off tank with Fineas Rage and a Howitzer in the back with Lava Launcher to protect from sneak and diversify damage.

Game 1 vs Madtribe - I'm not gonna argue Equalizer hurt me, however the bigger miscalculation is that the Healer actually did very little as he had the damage to burst down every single monster in one go. She's so fast that she'd take her turn, heal nothing, then he'd 1 round a monster, take her turn do nothing, 1 round a monster. Had that been the other 4 mana reach monster, Manticore I still probably lose but it would have been really close. Another issue I see is that the Twillight Basilisk should have been further back, just so accustomed to dropping a reach in 2nd position out of habit.

Game 3 vs Madtribe - Again you get a glimpse into what a top player is thinking about. Madtribe reached a conclusion that Water was the play and specifically with Axemaster so he even brought a headwinds to -1 Archery. It's a great idea because with weak magic you can put so much "trash" in front with Kelya giving armor you know it's going to take a while to get through that.

I built damn near the same team, almost hit submit, then the gears really started turning lol.

It was like "wait a second, how much is that team doing? 6 damage? I can run double healer Cube and it never gets through. I knew there was no sneak because of no melee, I wasn't sure if there was a snipe available, but I ran out of time and had to submit the team and it worked out.

Huge win this week! GG
