For this week's challenge I choose the Pelacor Arbalest card from the life deck that becomes quite powerful when combined with the summoner General Sloan from level 1, it is a rare card from the chaos legion edition and its mana cost is 6 o which is not low but is very worth having in battles to deal damage especially with the summoner I mentioned before.
But what really makes this card powerful is its Double Strike ability that I will explain later, in addition to it also has the Flying ability that makes it increase the chances of dodging attacks from other cards that don't have the Flying ability.
Its level 1 stats are 2 attack which is low for a card with that mana cost but with the Double Strike ability and General Sloan as a summoner it will be incredibly strong, 2 speed which is quite low so it will take time to attack and 2 health which is also quite low and that will make the Supply Runner an easy target to be defeated, but with the right positioning this won't be a big problem and it will also depend on what cards your opponent is going to use.
At level 8, which is his maximum level, he already has 3 attack so it improves a little but it's still a low value for a maximum level card that spends 6 mana, 3 speed which is still low and 5 life what it is is not as low as before so it won't be defeated as easily, plus it has 2 abilities that are obtainable at different levels that i mentioned earlier. Double Strike from level 1 and Flying from level 5, which doesn't make much sense since it's a card that has wings so I think having the Flying ability from level 1 would make more sense.
The image above shows an overview of the Pelacor Arbalest card, remembering that there are level restrictions in the leagues so Pelacor Arbaleste at level 5 with the Flying ability would only be possible in the gold league or above.
Their abilities are very simple to explain and as I've explained to Flying before and for the battle I'm going to show I used Pelacor Arbalest at level 1 so I won't mention it anymore, just Double Strike.
The Double Strike ability doesn't have much to talk about because it only makes the card that has it attack 2x in the round so the Pelacor Arbalest at level 1 that has 2 attack will attack 2x and deal 4 damage in the round, with General Sloan that increases the attack of ranged cards by +1 it would have 3 attack and do 6 damage so that's a lot of damage for a level 1 card.
His biggest weaknesses are his health and speed which are quite low, but at higher levels where his health increases and he has the Flying ability this won't be a big problem because his chances of dodging attacks are high.
See the Battle
In the battle my opponent used a summoner that decreases the magic attack and health of my cards by 1 and this is not a good thing for Pelacor Arbalest who already has low health so now he has only 1 health and is a very easy target to be defeated, but he still has the Truthspeaker card shield that will be very useful to protect him.
Most of my opponent's cards are melee and ranged so Chaos Knight with Shield ability and Truthspeaker with Protect ability will be very important in battle. My opponent has the Cursed Windeku card that has the Thorns ability that deals damage when a melee card attacks it won't be very useful in this battle since I only have the Chaos Knight as a melee card and it has the Shield ability that will reduce the damage received for this ability.
My opponent's most dangerous cards are Silent Sha-Vi and Death Elemental that attack the back row cards and my cards don't have much health.
In this battle the available mana is 29 and there are no rules.
Round 1
In the first round the shield provided by Truthspeaker was very useful and prevented my cards from receiving too much damage, the Pelacor Arbalest card also stood out because it was able to take 2/3 of Cursed Windeku's life and defeat him and without this card the my opponent's defense is much weaker which gives me a big advantage.
My opponent now has a ranged card in first position so it's unable to attack and he wasn't able to do much damage this round, just take the shield off the Tower Griffin card.
Round 2
In the second round my Time Mage card was targeted by the Death elemental and she was defeated so my opponent's cards regained 1 speed that her Slow ability had taken away. Again Pelacor Arbalest excelled in dealing damage and he was able to defeat 2 cards.
My opponent again wasn't able to do much damage this round, he only managed to defeat the Time Mage card. After Pelacor Arbalest defeated 2 of his cards, there were only 2 cards left from my opponent in the battle but the round didn't end and I still had cards to attack and as his remaining cards had few lives they were defeated soon after and so the battle ended since my opponent had no more cards on the battlefield.
Conclusion
It was a quick battle since it only took 2 rounds but it shows how the damage caused by Pelacor Arbalest was quite useful since the most damage done in the battle was his and he was responsible for the defeat of most of the cards, so even if he has low health and low speed he is still an amazing card to have especially if you position him in a difficult position for your opponent to attack and has a card like Truthspeaker that grants him a shield.
Good read. It's definitely a carry card and one that will be overlooked more with the new incoming legendary life summoner. Sharing this on https://twitter.com/PraetoriaDigest.
