This Splinterlands Guide focuses on the Noxious Fumes Ruleset. Noxious Fumes is one of the most challenging rulesets to come across in Splinterlands. Don't be scared! I going to show you my favorite strategies to take up against it.
Noxiouse Fumes - how it work?
Before going to full list of strategies, let's start with the basic knowledge about Noxiouse Fumes ruleset. All monsters start the game poisoned and will take 2 damage each turn unless cleansed. Monsters with high HP and cleanse are going to survive for longer time. However there may be some cases where you ignore and go for a big offensive attack and wipe out your opponent before the poison becomes a factor. There are also some tips & tricks that you can help you win the Poison battle. Some of them are obvious (like Immunity), while others (like Resurrect and Scavenger) take a little more efford to work effectively.
Remember! Your main objective in a Noxious Fumes ruleset is to survive on the battlefield longer than your opponent. Sometimes easy strategy like high HP can win the battle.
High amount of Healt Point (HP) - basic strategy
It is strongly recommended to use monsters with high amount of Health. The worst you can make is to use of full board of 1 or 2 HP monsters. After first round all of them will be dead.
Always choose the monsters for the back row that have greater Health. If you want to play low HP monster, only put them in front. It's better when your opponent waste some attacks to kill them, than hit your strongest monster on the back. If you can play all monsters with high HP that's even better but sometimes in low mana battles it is not possible. The more health your monsters have, the more poison damage they can take before dying. Simple strategy works fine.
Remember! Poison ignores armor,so choose high HP over armor. But some armor will protect your tank from the enemies, and give them extra survivability against the poison.

Scavenger strategy
I wrote above, that using low HP monsters is not good idea. In some startegies it is even good for you. Especially when you have Scavenger monster (Gains 1 max health each time any monster dies).
Life Leech can also increase your monster HP but the best ability is Scavenger.
Scavenger is useful when monsters are likely to die quckly and often. It is not unusual to see Gelatinous Cube and Doctor Blight in this battle.
- Gelatinous Cubea is a monster with no damage of its own but with the Scavenger ability and self heal can survive for very long time.
- Doctor Blight have quite low health but he has magic attack. Each time Dr.Blight kills the enemy, his HP increase. In addition, he has affiliction that prevents your enemy from healing. In case your enemy tank cleanse then Dr. Blight can poison him again.

This is not my battle. I don't have many Scavenger monsters in my deck. I found @Bubke battle. Watch fight using this strategy » Battle Online
Picture of two the best monsters for this startegy below.
Heal Up - HP regeneration
In this startegy the most important are abilities Heal, Tank Heal, or Triage. If you mix all of them together then even your backline monsters can survive the posion damage. Heal restores 1/3 of a monster's max health. If your monster has 12 HP then he can heal more than the 2 poison damage per turn.
- Heal - Restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded down.
- Tank Heal - Restores 1/3 of the Monster max health in the first position each round
- Triage - Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage. Heal is max health divided by 3, rounded down. Minimum is 2.
I always use Tank Heal ability to keep my tank alive. The best monster are with Heal ability but not everyone have them. If I have more mana to use then I want to use Triage. This is not so simple in Noxious Fumes because every monster on the field is immediately getting hit with Poison damage.

Cleanse your tank
Cleanse is the ability that will remove negative status effects from your tank once per round.
There are many monstr from Modern Cards thathave this ability. Usually they are very weak, that's why you should put them in the middle of the battle field. Just in case to protect hem from Snipe or Opportunity monsters attack. Here is a list of monsters with the Cleanse ability.

Resurrection Ability will bring back monster without poison
If you have monster with Resurrection or can use Chanseues the Great then poison battle will be much easier. Resurrect is one of the most effective abilities against Noxious Fumes. Any monster that dies then it will come back without poison, even backline monsters. Previosly I said about cleanse but this ability remove poison from tank only. Resurrection removes from any monster.
Remember! Your monster will come back with only a single Health point.
If you use Resurrection startegy with many monsters then, you'll have a chance of surviving while your opponent is taking 2 damage each round. Here is a list of monsters and summoner with the Resurrection ability.
Speed strategy - hit first and win!
This startegy is very simple. You need to use fast monster, which will kill your opponent before poison kills you. Speed always plays an important role in all of Splinterlands battles. If your opponent is dead then he cannot attack anymore. The fastest strong attacking monsters can be found in Water Splinter. High HP, high Attack and Speed boosts can help you win.

Immunity monsters from Modern Cards
These are also some cards I like to play in the Noxious Fumes ruleset. Why? Because they have Immunity ability:
- Immunity - This monster is immune to all negative status effects.
If you have one of these card then it is worth to use it. Always choose the monsters for the back row that have Immunity. If you want to play low HP monster only put them in front. After couple round all monsters in front will die from poison and Immunity monster will stay as a last monster alive.
