However, third parties have done a great job on providing solutions on automating everything from rentals and purchases on markets to even playing. As a player and investor, I have committed to exploring these options as a way to not only provide a way to effectively use my Collection but also to support these third parties as they are a key part of the Community. The more third parties, the more diversity we can provide to the ecosystem over time. None are perfect but that is why having many has been great for the game and economy.
Bots have been a pain point over time across the Community. However, it is mostly around the massive bot farms focused on extracting from the ecosystem. I can at least say that while I have used bots in the past, I have never sold a single card. In addition, most of my earnings have been reinvested into my Collection whether it has ended good or bad for the value of my Collection. I continue to look toward the long term to build here so I like the opportunity to have flexibility. I also have seen improvements in the use of bots over time. Therefore, I opted to give Xbot a try and purchased a token during one of their public sales. After missing the early opportunities, I was finally able to secure one and it has definitely change my experience.
The ability to put an upfront cost and avoid recurring charges was critical in this decision as I saw the complexity of being more transactional with my prior experiences. I manually account for earnings and expenses with my Collection so being on top of cost basis of transactions and sending to third parties is such a headache. In addition, I found myself missing opportunities to learn the meta from others as the interface was not as easy to interact with. However, Xbot has check those boxes in addition to performing very well for me.
While I cannot take credit for the rankings I have been achieving in the ranked ladders, I can at least say that my Collection is being used to its full potential. I also find myself learning to use my Collection given some of the features they provide. This translates to improved performance in Tournaments and Brawls. I take a careful approach there as I know the competitive landscape needs to avoid the automation factor but learning teams has been a good advantage to have. While I have the “if you can’t beat them, join them” in the back of my mind, I think Xbot takes this to another level given the engagement needed to use its opportunities. Given my upcoming focus on lands, I feel it will be a cornerstone of my Collection as long as it maintains its approach and support.
