Splinterlands: Hitting where it's not expected!

Hey Splinterfans! Welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, I'm back to making posts on Peakd again, last weeks I've tested making posts at Inleo to see if it's any good and to see if I would earn additional income in LEO tokens, conclusion: The text editor is a lot less advanced and I didn't receive any additional LEO for any of my bigger posts, so definitely not worth it in my opinion. 🙂

Before I go on with this post I like to take some time to thank all the people on Hive who have been reading and upvoting my posts lately, I really feel like since the last two months things have really started to take off, I'm getting more followers slowly and the earnings on my posts are phenomenal, it's great to see my Hive account grow and being able to invest some of these earnings in to my Splinterlands accounts! 😍

So, like most Thursdays, it's blogging day for me again so let's get going!
A day ago (according to Hive) a new Social Media Challenge has been launched for Splinterlands players to make a new post about and help spread the word about this awesome game.

The challenge theme is the same as last weeks:

🔥 Share Your Most Remarkable Splinterlands Moments: Do you possess a battle of epic proportions that deserves to be seen by all? Have you crafted something extraordinary within the Splinterlands realm? Maybe you've got profound thoughts, insights, or strategies related to stats, cards, abilities, or gameplay that are waiting to be shared? We want it all, and we want it to be nothing short of AMAZING!

To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, check out the Splinterlands post here.

The battle I want to share for this week is a fun smaller battle I had on my Gold account earlier in this season.

It's a 31 mana Modern League, Going the Distance / Born Again / Explosive battle with only the fire splinter locked out. In the archery only ruleset, Quix is played a lot as the summoner, Life, although having a summoner (Sloan) that boosts ranged damage isn't a good option because it doesn't have a good unit for the first position, Gargoya Devil is good but has low survivability because of it's low Health Points, Death has the Queen of Crows and Water has the Wave Brood, both high mana cards so let's see what we can make! There's no way to counter the blast I think, I don't own any ranged cards with Reflection Shield, so best option is to put a Martyr card in position 1 or 2.

First look at the battlefield:

Cool, I don't see Rebellion summoners very often just yet, the Chaos Legion summoners are a lot cheaper but that's all about to change in April when the new set, Conclave Arcana launches, pushing Chaos Legion out of the Modern format.
My opponent had a great idea as a tank, with the Born Again rule set, it's two times the armor I need to eat trough, good thinking! Too bad for him I brought a unit which will shatter trough the armor instantly... 😉

My Line-Up:

  • Summoner: Astral Entity - reason: Dodge and another resurrect for the Martyr card.
  • First position: Venari Marksrat - reason: Martyr, which will be resurrected TWICE now.
  • Second position: Drybone Raider - reason: Double Strike with Shatter.
  • Third position: Ravenhood Warden - reason: Protect to survive one more attack.
  • Fourth position: Daigendark Hunter - reason: Sneak attacker.

Because of the expensive mana card Drybone Raider, my team is pretty small but I like this team a lot, you will see why! 😁

The Battle:

Round 1: Lira missed her attack right off the bat, pretty substantial because it would have made a lot of blast damage, in the back of my team, the dodge from my summoner worked well even with the speed difference!

Round 2: So my martyr died for the first time, boosting Drybone Raider, Daigendark Hunter is working the enemy back line nicely is the next turn she will make two kills in one blow, hitting where it's not expected!

Round 3: Hey, WAIT! That went too fast, I was still having fun! 😂 You need to kill my martyr again!! Well, you get the point.. Drybone Raider is hitting like a truck this way, and he will just switch from ranged to melee when he gets to the first position and still hit two times every turn, it's an awesome card! 😍
Now, with Lira in the first position, unable to fire it's a sure win, she's fast but eventually she will get hit and die, it's another win for me!

Round 4: She didn't ever bother to dodge that next attack, it's a fast kill!

230 glint and over 2 SPS for my secondary account isn't bad at all! I experimented with renting additional SPS right after this fight, I'll make a post on that topic later. 🙂

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

That's it for today, for a day off I'm pretty busy actually, still need some ranked battles to grind trough, follow e-learning for work (on my day off!?) and cook dinner for the family too, I'll hope to catch you on my next post, or maybe we will meet sooner on the battlefields of Praetoria!
