Hey everyone and welcome back to another Splinterlands post! It's time to start making the second post for this weeks Splinterlands Challenges, to hopefully get some nice upvotes and fund my account with in preparation for the arrival of the new set called Conclave Arcana and the rotation from Chaos Legion out of Modern League, in the next week I will make a dedicated post on this topic because this is still unknown by the newer players.
But first this post, and this week the Community Engagement Challenge is about expanding Splinterlands lore, it's my most favorite topic I think, it's really cool to expand on a cool basis and there are so many options, every card has it's own story to write more adventures around, like with strategies and card combinations in battles, this is almost endless!
So, the challenge for this week:
Pick a Lore Topic: Visit the official Splinterlands lore site at lore.splinterlands.com and choose a character, faction, or event that resonates with you.
To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, check out the Splinterlands post here.
I've chosen a new Rebellion Soulbound Reward Card for this post, the Dragon Egg Forager, with the season just ended I pulled enough copies to make my Forager a level 5, where it receives 1 extra melee attack, going from 2 to 3, that's a 50% increase so a pretty valuable upgrade!
It's an opportunity attacker with the Scavenge ability from level three and up, meaning it will gain one Health Point for every monster that dies on the battlefield, when you stick this monster safely in the middle, once it reaches the first position it will be very powerful with lots of Health Points.
The Splinterlands Lore...
So, this is the short Splinterlands lore for this amazing monster so far...
There are many uses for dragon eggs: they are a source of dragon magic; the shell can be woven into clothing and armor to enhance its protective properties; if one has a complete disregard for their safety, they might hatch the egg and attempt to tame the hatchling; they also make for a delectable omelet.
Subsequently, dragon-egg foraging is an incredibly lucrative business. It’s also incredibly dangerous, so if you decide to try your hand at it, best make sure your last will and testament is up-to-date.
I made a story expanding on this, where the Forager is trying to acquire another valuable dragon egg...
The Frozen Nest
Kael Emberstride, a Dragon Egg Forager pulled it's fur cloak tighter as icy winds howled through the Frostveil Peaks. This mission was unlike any other. Most dragon eggs were found in fiery caves or deep jungles, but this time, the Forager was after something rarer, an egg from a Frostscale Wyrm...
These dragons nested high in the mountains, where the cold was so strong it could freeze a person solid. Their eggs were even more valuable than fire dragon eggs. Mages claimed they held the power of endless winter.
But getting one? That was the hard part.
After hours of climbing, the Forager reached the top of a jagged cliff. There, hidden in a bed of frozen moss, lay a single egg, pale blue with veins of silver.
Kael carefully stepped forward, his breath visible in the icy air. But then... just as he reached for the egg... crack!
The snow beneath his feet shifted. A hidden layer of ice broke, sending him sliding down, away from the nest. He could barely stop himself from falling into a deep crevasse, and then, a deep growl rumbled through the mountain.
The mother had returned...
A massive Frostscale Wyrm, covered in shimmering white scales, landed with a thud. Its glowing blue eyes locked onto the intruder. With a hiss, it opened its mouth—and a blast of freezing wind shot out.
The Forager ducked behind a rock as the ice breath froze everything in its path. His hands were already numb, but he had to move fast.
Reaching into his bag, he grabbed a small fire crystal. Slamming it against the ground, it shattered, releasing a burst of warmth that melted the nearby ice. The dragon hesitated, confused by the sudden heat.
That was the chance he needed! Snatching the egg, the Forager sprinted toward the edge of the cliff. The only escape was down.
With a deep breath, he jumped, wind rushed past him as he fell, but he wasn't panicking. His grappling hook shot out, catching onto an outcrop of rock. He swung down, landing hard but safe on a snowy ledge below.
The dragon roared above, but it wouldn’t follow. The Forager had won.
As kael caught his breath, he looked at the egg. Cold to the touch, but humming with power.
Another mission complete.
But this time, He couldn’t help but wonder...
If the mother dragon’s roar wasn’t one of anger, but of sorrow.
Once he was back safely and warmed up, Kael Emberstride stepped into the busy market, his satchel tight against his side. The journey had been long, and the weight of the dragon egg was heavy—not just in gold, but in danger.
He made his way through the crowded streets of Ember Hollow, a hidden village where hunters, traders, and smugglers gathered. Torches flickered in the evening air as merchants called out their wares.
At a quiet corner, an old mage in dark robes waited. His eyes gleamed when Kael pulled the egg from his satchel.
“A Frostscale egg,” the mage whispered, running his fingers over the cold shell. “You have done well.”
Kael nodded as the mage handed over a heavy pouch of gold. The deal was done. Another risk taken, another fortune made.
But as Kael walked away, he glanced back at the egg one last time.
He never stayed to see what happened to them. Maybe it was better that way.
With a deep breath, he disappeared into the shadows, already thinking about the next hunt.
