Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Equal Opportunity Doesn't Mean Equal Outcome!

Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. This battle has the Equal Opportunity rule set. This was one of my favorite rule sets when I started playing, because it meant I could place any unit in any slot, and they would get to attack (unless it was a ranged one in the front). Even today, I still love this rule set as it creates some crazy games that aren't possible in most other rule sets. It gives Opportunity to every unit, which means they will attack the enemy unit with the least HP. There are a few exceptions. Units in the first position still attack the first position; melee units with Sneak will attack the last position; magic or ranged units with Snipe will use the Snipe target; magic or ranged units with Scattershot will hit a random enemy unit. There are several good strategies for Equal Opportunity. Low HP units with Martyr will get killed very fast, so it's a good idea to have them. Units with more than one attack type get some benefits, especially if they are melee and ranged. They usually can only do one of their attacks, depending their position, but with this, they can use both from the back. Taunt is a good way to protect your weaker units. Lily Shieldpaw can also have a similar effect. Units like Jared Scar can be devastating. They are usually not good enough to place in the front position, but if they can hit from anywhere and survive the first few turns, they'll likely become unstoppable.

This game has the following rule sets: Equal Opportunity, Odd Ones Out, and Armored Up. It's a 43 mana cap game and only Life, Fire and Death splinters are available. I went with Eternal Tofu, as my summoner. I started with Halfling Refugee. For the next 3, I put Iziar between Jared Scar and Venka the Vile, so that they get the Martyr buff. I finished the team with Meriput Magician and Runeslinger. They opted for Lux Vega and put Bliding Reflector in front, followed by Iziar. However, it was only at level 1, so it doesn't have Martyr. They placed Jared Scar and Djinn Renova next and finished the team with Disintegrator and Spirit Hoarder.

I gave Triage and Scavenger to Jared Scar. We traded blows into Iziar, but both survived the first round. In the following one, I was able to kill theirs first, but their Jared got mine right away. In round 3, Runeslinger killed Blinding Reflector, and my Jared finished their Spirit Hoarder. With that, I got rid of the Blind ability that was affecting my team. Their Disintegrator also killed my Meriput. Round 4 began with Venka taking out their Jared and dealing a lot of damage to Renova. Jared finished Renova and they only had Disintegrator left. I finished the game in the following round.

The level difference between Iziars was big, but Eternal Tofu was also amazing with Thorns, hurting half of their units. My team was more powerful (and expensive) than theirs and the game ended up not being very close. I still think I showcased the rule set well with my team. Despite what I already talked about, at the start, I supported the Taunt with Triage from Tofu's Tactics. I also had Runeslinger with Affliction to stop healing effects on their side. The Tank Heal on my side is also interesting because it helps my first unit survive as it should only get attacked by one unit, until Iziar goes down. Keeping it alive means Jared also stays out of the front position for longer.
