Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Fighting in the new Battlefield

in Splinterlands9 hours ago

Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. It was a game against Clayboyn. He's Splinterland's DAO Project Manager and I've showcased a battle against him before. I've played him more times and I've probably lost more than I've won, so he's a difficult opponent. However, the star of the show this time is neither of us but the new aspect of the battlefield. I've only tested on my PC, so I don't know how it looks on the phone. So far, it doesn't look bad but it also doesn't look like an improvement. The extra speed on the fastest speed is nice though. It feels a bit too small on my screen and I don't have a huge screen. I also couldn't find the rule sets at first glance, because I expected them to stay at the same place. They are now in the upper right corner together with the mana cap and Splinters available. The team is taking feedback and I expect things to change and get better in the next few weeks.

This game has the following rule sets: Tis but Scratches, Broken Arrows, and High Five. I went with Eternal Tofu, using Arkemis the Bear as my tank. Next, I placed Nalara Geinek, followed by Iziar and Goblin Psychic. I finished the team with Adelade Brightwing. It was a very straightforward team. There are no ranged units available, Eternal Tofu deals damage to melee units and I have a Taunt monster with Void and 2 Silence abilities. Adelade can Resurrect Iziar once for more Martyr buffs. Clayboyn opted for Lorkus with Djinn Muirat as his tank. He used Grimbardun Smith and Skok Duskblight next. For the last 2, he picked Usut and Barashkukor.

I gave Triage and Scavenger to Goblin Psychic. With 2 Afflictions on his side, Triage is unlikely to do much but the Scavenger can be useful. 3 Divine Shields might have been a safer option, though. He gave Life Leech and Affliction to Grimbardun Smith and Usut. I was able to take out his Djinn Muirat twice in the first 2 rounds. Clayboyn failed to stick the Affliction in the first round. Since Goblin Psychich is faster than their 2 Affliction monsters, it would still get at least 1 Triage but this way it also got it in the second round. In round 3, his team killed Iziar but it got Resurrected and Triaged right away. He finally stuck the Affliction on Iziar. In round 4, my Iziar went down for good but I also took out the Grimbardun Smith. Skok died in the next round. In round 6 I lost Arkemis but I also left Usut very close to death. Nalara finished the Usut in round 7 and Barashkukor in round 8.

Clayboyn went all out on a powerful magic team with Lorkus but I perfectly countered it with Iziar and double Silence. I was a bit lucky with his Affliction but I still think I would have won regardless.
