Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Handicap Fight

in Splinterlands7 days ago

Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. This battle had the Silenced Summoners rule set. This rule set takes away all summoners' abilities. That means you want to use the summoners that use the least amount of mana and those that allow you to use more than one splinter. That means the common dual splinter summoners from Rebellion and Dragon summoners. The legendary Rebellion summoners work too, but they cost a lot of mana. For 99 mana, that's irrelevant, so that's a good situation to use them if you're like me, and you have some of the legendary ones but not the common ones. Why was this a handicap fight? Because, since the Dragon splinter was not available, I had to use 4 mana and picked a summoner with only one splinter, while my opponent picked Zeddica, saving one mana and getting access to Water and Death units.

This game had the following rule sets: Lost Magic, Silenced Summoners, and Fog of War. It had a mana cap of 46 and only Fire, Water, and Death were available. I picked Kelya Frendul and started with Mantaroth. Flying Squid was my Reach unit, and I followed it up with Clockwork Aide. Venka the Vile was next, and I finished with Supply Runner and Swamp Spitter. They used Zeddica and placed Commander Slade in front. Behind it, they opted for Venator Kinjo, followed by Venka. Supply Runner and Lira the Dark were next and they finished the team with Merdaali Guardian.

Round 1

They had one extra speed modifier, giving them an advantage in that department. I did have the Blind from Flying Squid, so they would miss any of their attacks. Mantaroth took some heavy hits and survived at 7 HP. I hit Slade with a few attacks. Merdaali Guardian Healed and Repaired it. Unfortunately, Flying Squid missed its attack, which would have taken out the armor. Swamp Spitter hit for 8, but it all went to the armor. I still left it at 5 HP after Mantaroth's attack.

Round 2

Mantaroth went down to 1 HP. After that, I missed 2 attacks on Slade. Venka's miss was pretty bad because it would have been a kill. Slade got Healed and Repaired again. Flying Squid hit, but Swamp Spitter missed this time. Mantaroth put it to 4 HP. This round went worse for me than the first one.

Round 3

Their Venka took out my Mantaroth and got a big hit on Flying Squid. However, my Venka hit this time and eliminated both Slade and Venator Kinjo. I also put their Venka to 3 HP before the end of the round.

Round 4 and 5

Lira finished Flying Squid, but my Supply Runner got their Venka. My Venka one shot their Supply Runner. It missed the Trample attack on Lira. However, since Lira was in front, they had no more attackers, which guaranteed the game for me. The game ended in the following round.

The game had a slow start, and it looked very dangerous for me. However, once the tanks went down, the teams became more frail and the game became faster. Their team crumbled more than mine, which was the reason I won. I could very well have lost if I had missed a few more attacks, though.

What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
