You stated their downsides well...there are reasons they are cheap! would be fun to have a ruleset where recharge monsters went off on odd rounds instead of even rounds. Sucks when Uriel is about ready to smash someone for 12 damage and then gets stunned by a 2 mana card and then not only does he fail to attack, he can't heal.
Recharge monsters can be deadly when deployed well and protected. It's fun to melt cards that seem impenetrable by using recharge.

I love the idea for this ruleset. This would make them super useful and would reward people for owning them.
Also im conviced that these cards are more useful than people give them credit for. I admit the use cases are niche and you cant crutch them. But they are a solid choice in more situations than people give them credit for. So i think we both agree on that :)
