RE: Splinterlands AMA Summary - October 29th, 2021 - 2PM Eastern!

I think the team is doing a fantastic job and balancing all this is not an easy task for sure... but mantaining vouchers after the presale is a HUGE disappointment. So you're basically asking that any new player that wants to join in on the game to spend way over the announced 4$/pack (assuming current vouchers prices), and learn to use hive-engine to purchase vouchers to do it. Basically, make the fat wallets even fatter; and I'm speaking belonging way more from the side that will benefit from it, since I'm playing and investing in the game for over three years. Just hoping this will not slow current growth but still... not the coolest move. Just my two cents; besides that... can't wait for CL!

Sort:

Maintaining voucher utility gives SPS value, which gives all SPS holders value. Vouchers ultimately are not benefitting the whales, they are the ones that are actually getting hurt the most by it. If you removed vouchers, whales would be eating up all the CL packs before anyone else could even get the chance to buy them.

That is why it will be very interesting to see how long CL lasts after the 2 million packs are sold with vouchers, and then the rest are able to be purchased without vouchers. I think we are about to see the quickest 15 million packs be sold ever.

That's so true! I'd be buying way more packs if there were no Vouchers. I'm no whale. I play Gold League for the most part. We've already seen with Land presale how whales just grab everything so fast. Vouchers are better for newbies more than anything. Else they won't even have any packs left to be purchased.

If newbies wouldn't be able to buy a piece of 15 million packs, then we have a bigger problem. Spending 4$ on a pack seems reasonably to me; spending 20$, no. Or we get to a point where only someone with a ton of money to spend will be able to evolve in the game.

That's one way to look at it; true, they do benefit SPS holders, but again... only huge holders get the actual benefit. Practical example: I have over 15k SPS staked, which amount to several thousand dollars; and at the end of a presale I would barely scratch 100 packs. See it from someone new to the game, that wants to invest a bit, let's say 50$. Will he spend thousands of dollars to get SPS to be able to get vouchers to buy packs? Nope. Will you see it spend those 50$ to get two packs (voucher+pack)? Unlikely. I have real life friends that joined the game recently, actually wanted to invest... and will not do it given this system; and I'm guessing many more will follow the example. Vouchers as a presale requirement, I can fully understand. Creating difficulties for newcomers to start investing a little, sorry, can't see the reasoning. Thanks for your feedback, and see you on the battlefield! ;) !BEER
