Why this one? 'cause novelty matters

Edition: REWARD
Rarity: COMMON
Element: WATER
Attack: RANGED
Abilities: Life leech, Cripple (lvl 4), Snare (lvl 9)

Basically this is one of the new reward cards I received recently and I wanted to test him out and see if he can be of any use.

This guy's lore page is longer than its tail

WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THE BARBED PRONGS HOLD FAST WHILST THE
HAVE ALWAYS WANTED WAS TO HIMSELF AND CLOAK TIGHTER ABOUT HIM
THOUGHT OF COLD CLARITY HE WAS LOST FOREVER
THAT A MERMAID COULD TASTE THE HELM THERE IT MATTERED NOTHING
MERMAID COULD SEDUCE A QUICK PANG OF IT IS PULLED HIS
COULD TASTE THE BOW OF THE THOUGHT THAT ENDS WELL LIKE
SEDUCE A LONG THIN CHAIN ATTACHED TO THE AIR WHERE IT
VAMPIRE BUT ARE USELESS IN THEIR SLEEP A GREAT TRIDENT THAT
THAT IT IS PULLED HIS HEAD TO BE MERMAIDS IN THEIR
FATEFUL DAY THE WAVES THE GENTLE VOICE SINGING GRIPPING THE THOUGHT

TL;DR, an underwater vampire

That nonsense came out of a markov chain text generator using this creature's lore as input. Thanks to: https://www.dcode.fr/markov-chain-text

Levels, stats and all that jazz

He looks to be somewhat decent at level 5 once he gets 2 damage and the Cripple ability, but I'm not really going for that. I just want to know if at level 1 is usable, and he may be in some niche situations.

It's trident time

FIRST BATTLE
This is a bronze I battle. Standard Rules. 28 mana.

image.png

There isn't too much thought put into this fight but it was the first time I tried Merdhampir out. The overall strategy is Sea Monster as the tank, Feasting Seaweed, Pelacor Bandit and Uraeus to attack the back line and then I had some extra room for a few ranged units, so I picked the Pixie and Merdhampir just because I didn't want to use an starter card and earn less rewards.

image.png

Fast forward and the Sea Monster + Feasting Seaweed combo is doing some magic. I then got the idea that this guy could clutch in some poison battles. So, I went and prayed for a poisoned one.

LITERALLY THE NEXT BATTLE

image.png

Awesome. I even got the chance to match him against a fairly decent team. Let's see how this goes.

image.png

We both thought of a similar strategy. A big tank plus cleanse and heal to withstand the poison for time enough to decimate the enemy team. I went for the Sea Monster, my go-to water tank but chose Merdhampir as the extra damage unit in the team while the enemy went for a Deeplurker.

image.png

AND THE SEA VAMPIRE IS STILL STANDING.
He is not really doing that much damage, but he managed to stand the poison an extra round thanks to the life leech ability and is going to bait the Deeplurker into attacking him again, giving the Monster plenty of time to deal with Oshannus. GG <33333

What did we learn today?

Not much. Healing works wonders against poison, mainly. But hey, at least setting all of this was hella fun!
