During my grind in the Silver league, I had a battle against the Llama-Kron combo now and then, which is quite surprising for me to see as I never had an encounter in previous seasons in this league. That shows how the battle style then changes now and then, isn't it?
Here I am to show one of the many ways to counter the Llama-Kron combo that you may encounter during your games!
The Ruleset
Given the ruleset above, I am to expect magic cards due to 'Keep Your Distance' preventing you to play Melee cards as well the Earth Splinter open for use. Furthermore, Magic cards would be beneficial for 'Equal Opportunity" to pick off some low-health monsters bypassing the shield. Therefore, I had to use Life as this is my comfort splinter to use and has great magic counter cards.
Team Composition
Here is my team composition for this battle and I'll break it down as to the reason for these particular cards and the placement.
Pelacor Conjurer (Lvl 5)
- Mana Cost: 2
- Health: 5 HP
- Speed: 4
- Abilities: Flying and Magic Reflect
Pelacor Conjurer is known to be a great 2-mana-cost card that provides great evasiveness and tankiness as well. Having the 'Magic Reflect' ability helps to deflect magic damage by a fraction of the damage it receives. In a battle here that only consists of magic damage, this card will provide a lot of value.
Do note that this has great synergy with Dax Paragon at Lvl 2 having the 'Amplify' ability that boosts the daamge return brought by 'Magic Reflect' due to not having the extra 2 mana I didn't add him into the team comp.
Djinn Renova (Lvl 3)
- Mana Cost: 7
- Damage: 3 Magic
- Health: 6 HP
- Speed: 3
- Abilities: Strengthen
Djinn Renova can be your secondary tank, like how I used it in this battle, that can provide good magic damage as well as a quick card to use. I always place her in the second position to soak up damage in case my primary tank dies. In this level, having that 3 magic damage with 3 speed is a power punch to the face. Additionally, the 'Strengthen' ability helps to provide +1 health with is beneficial to tank up damage as well as for the 'Tank Heal' in our next card.
Venari Crystalsmith (Lvl 4)
- Mana Cost: 4
- Damage: 2 Ranged
- Health: 5 HP
- Speed: 3
- Abilities: 'Tank Heal'
Venari Crystalsmith will serve as our tank healer in this setup. As mentioned previously. 'Tank Heal' ability has synergies with 'Strengthen' as the heal mechanics would be based on your "strengthened" health. This ability would serve as a sustain for the Pelacor Conjurer as well for Djinn Renova.
Prismologist (Lvl 1)
- Mana Cost: 8
- Damage: 3 Ranged
- Health: 4 HP
- Shield: 2
- Speed: 2
- Abilities: Blast
This is one of my favorite Life cards as this suits very well General Sloan. In this battle, this serves as a 'pick-off' card that would just bring extra damage to adjacent cards. You can kill one to three cards with the right rulesets and situations. This card would be our damage dealer in our composition.
