What is Tournament? How to Join ?

Splinterlands is a card game developing constantly with many patches and is also full of various strategies that are needed to win the battle in this game. Although ordinary battles between players are already very interesting, If you want a battle full of competition and also bigger prizes, then you can try new challenges with take part in the tournament in Splinterlands. There are several things you need to know about tournaments:

  1. What differentiates tournaments from ordinary battles for ranking is that tournaments make several players who agree to the rules set in the tournament to take part in the event with prizes usually in the form of dec. but sometimes there are also those who give gift packs or other valuable prizes. Tournaments vary in difficulty level from Novice, Silver, Gold, to Diamond league ranks which are usually filled with people who have been playing Splinterlands for a long time and have high skill. The requirements for participating in each tournament are also different, including the ruleset/format, for example, only Novice level cards and Chaos legion packs can be used. Other examples below besides needing 50 dec to enter the tournament also need 1500 staked SPS :
  1. As a beginner who hasn't played Splinterlands for a long time, it is recommended that you start first by taking part in tournaments at the novice level, it requires a small dec fee, and there are certain tournaments that are free as well. With a low cost / free entry fee, we can practice without too much pressure. This is how we can enter the Novice tournament :

Once we are skilled enough, we can start taking part in tournaments with leagues above, for example, the Bronze League Tournaments, or if you have enough capital you can buy cards/card rentals that are strong, so you can win lots of tournaments.

  2. Before the tournament we can rent cards according to our budget, if possible rent/buy cards for use in each element because the ruleset in the tournament can change which could only benefit one element.
Practicing with friends in Challenge mode will speed up beginners' learning of the strategy and ruleset of this game :

How to be Competitive in Tournament

To be able to compete in tournaments we need:

  • First, learn all the abilities of each unit and also all the rulesets in Splinterlands and how to overcome them.

  • learn units and summoners from elements all so that we can change strategies effectively, and also choose the most advantageous elements in a particular ruleset.

  • Don't forget that in every battle there is a timer, including in tournaments, practice thinking quickly in every regular battle / ranked battle so you don't run out of time in tournaments.

  • Get into the habit of always checking recent play teams on the enemy's side so that we can estimate the cards they have, and the enemy's habits so that we can counter them :

  • Learn why we lose in every tournament, is it because we lose cards? or don't understand the strategy in a certain ruleset, or just lose because you're unlucky.
Knowing our weaknesses will improve our abilities thereby increasing our chances of winning.

Beginner Mistake

  • Participate in as many tournaments as possible, be careful in managing your fund. Part of the capital you have is for card rental/buying cards and other for tournaments, maybe some will be withdrawn, so make sure to arrange it carefully so as not over budget.
  • In every battle, make sure you always read the existing ruleset, and if you don't understand, you can learn it later, so that if there is a battle with the same ruleset, it increases your chances of winning. For beginners, this might be quite time consuming, because you don't know the icon images for every ruleset, but stick with it after 2-3 weeks everything will become easier.
  • Forget to check the Time Zone, some countries have different times, so we need to know first whether our time is the same as the time of the Splinterlands tournament.
