Perfecting The Tanker Evasion Through the Strength of Blind Ability

in Splinterlands2 months ago

Hello all, this week I want to discuss how to prolong the life of our tanker , in this topic we will focus on a tanker that can be used against any type of attack (range/magic/Melee) especially tankers who depend on speed. There were 2 types of tanker in the Modern Format:

  • Tankers who are strong against any attack (range, melee, magic) because of the ability they have, usually these tankers have large HP/armor, They have normal/low speed so they don't have good dodging abilities. An example of this type of tanker is :
  • The 2nd tanker is a tanker that relies on his speed/ability to avoid any type of enemy attack so that his health does not decrease. This type of tanker usually does not have the ability to reduce damage, so when hit by an attack its health will decrease quickly. An Example of this tanker :
  • There was another tanker who was in the middle of the two criteria above, but usually had a weakness against one type of attack (melee/range/magic). For example Arkemis The Bear has large HP, high Speed (After the Enrage ability is active), but is weak against magic attacks, Mantaroth has large damage, health and armor, weak against magic but strong against melee and ranged attacks. Agor Longtail, his speed is a bit slow, he has a lot of health and armor, even though he has the Flying ability but because of his slow speed he is often hit by attacks, this tanker is rarely seen because it requires 15 mana, so it is usually only used in battle with big mana. This kind of tanker will be more safe if bring another tanker who have Taunt ability (all enemy will attack this unit if can) :

Note : I play with my Scholar account with only a limited card (Chaos Legion, reward card, and rent several old cards like Doctor Blight, Arkemis The Bear, Dumacke Exile, etc.), I don't have summoner with dual tactics. So this strategy may only suit players that rent/have cheap card. I play in Modern format Diamond/Champ League.

Several Ability Which Usefull for Tankers Who Depend on Speed

AbilityDescription
Flying ability. has an increased chance of 25% evading melee or ranged attacks from units who do not have the Flying ability.
Dodge ability), has an increased chance of evading melee or ranged attacks by 25%.
Blind ability, all enemy melee & ranged attacks have an increased chance of missing their target by 15%.
Phase ability, magic attack can miss this unit (using the same hit/miss calculation as for Melee and Ranged attacks)
Swiftness, all friendly units have increased speed by 1.

Apart from high speed, I consider the unit is a good tanker if he has Phase and one of the Flying or Dodge abilities. As far as I know, there is no tanker that has Phase and Flying+Dodge abilities, I think because this is combined together will be overpowered. Extra speed neither with summoner ability or Swiftness from other units is good, but what makes it perfect is if you bring unit with Blind ability. I always try to bring units with Blind ability whatever I can, if I used tanker who depend on speed.

Battle Example

The 1st battle Link., in this battle only Regal Peryton who has high speed, same speed like our tanker Chaos Agent. Regal have Flying ability our Chaos Agent have Dodge ability, Regal Peryton never hit our Chaos Agent, It's hard to prove neither because of our **Dodge ability or our debuff Blind ability, but with same speed Regal Peryton can't hit our Chaos Agent, so we can be sure that Dodge or Blind ability is working. :

The 2nd battle Link., we can see more clearly in this battle the advantage having Blind ability, The enemy Pelacor Bandit Have 7 speed while our Chaos Agent only have 5 speed. itmean Pelacor Bandit have 120% chance to hit Chaos Agent but due to other ability I think the calculation become like this :

  • Pelacor Bandit speed - our Chaos Agent speed = 120% - 25% Chaos Agent Dodge ability = 95% - 15% Blind ability debuff = 80% (chance the enemy Pelacor Bandit attack will hit our Chaos Agent). our Chaos Agent evading the enemy Pelacor Bandit attack twice.

Conclusion

After using buff speed, always try to bring Blind ability unit if you can, especially if you think the enemy attack will hit the tanker.

  • In the 1st battle i predict that the enemy will attacking our unit in the 1st position because it can't using melee attack which famous for high damage unit when using Sneak/Opportunity ability. .
  • In the 2nd battle I guess that the enemy will attack using Sneak unit, so i put the best tanker unit behind, while trying to use Blind abiility unit I put in the 1st postion, Blinding Reflector actually not a good tanker, if the enemy focus fire attacked it, I think we will lost, lucky our guess is right.
