Splinterlands is an NFT card game where you can get token rewards from playing and earn money. These are some tips for beginners and players who have been playing for a long time to achieve a high rating in Splinterlands battles and to get token prizes:
Disclaimer these tips may only be suitable for players with limited resources like cards/money but who still want to play Splinterlands to win and earn a reward. I am playing my scholar account with a reward card, and some Chaos Legion cards. I rent some basic and old cards but still powerful enough to win at least can reach Champion III (barely) like Doctor Blight, Arkemis the Bear, Uloth Dhampir, etc.
- Even though we can read various strategies and memorize all the abilities and rulesets, the fastest way to become a good player is to keep battling because from continuous battling we will learn a lot of new things, both from the wins and losses we experience:
- From continuous defeats we can learn the weaknesses of our formation and upgrade it.
- If there are new rulesets/abilities that we encounter when fighting enemies, we can learn about them on the Splinterlands doc/web, so that in the future we can deal with them better.
- This is the most important and also the most difficult part in my opinion because we have to master most/all of the rulesets, and abilities and also know the many strengths and weaknesses of the units, in every battle we have to always learn to check Recently Played Teams, so we can estimate what cards the enemy will take out and also anticipate if there are units that are dangerous to our formation (the weaker the units/summoners we bring, the more units/summoners/formations will easily destroy our formation). In other words, the weaker the cards we bring, the more often we have to check them, and the stronger and more complete the cards the players bring, the easier it will be to win even if they don't check Recently Played Teams.
- Bring the unit that is as good as possible according to our financial capabilities. To set up this unit, we can also imitate other players by seeing what cards they bring. We can go to Peakmonsters and go to My Cards then select My Assets or we can change https://peakmonsters.com/@bltzr-wizard-710/cards this link with the name of the player we want, for example we want to see what cards are brought by the player named saydie we can change it to https://peakmonsters.com/@saydie/cards. Because I play in the Modern League, my tip is that if you are a player who has strong finances, you must rent these 4 units, in my opinion, these are strong monsters and are often a mainstay for winning battles:
- Learn from other's formations. My personal experience when I was starting as a scholar was that I learned a lot from other scholar friends, especially those who had almost the same cards as me. By changing the name in the search box with another scholar as below, we can check the formation of other scholars:
If there are scholars who have a better rating than me then I will check their formations that I have never seen and study them, if I feel the formation is interesting and strong I will copy it and try it in battle, and if necessary modify it to suit the ruleset and cards I have.
During several sessions I did this because my fellow scholars were also developing so that many new formations appeared that didn't exist before, until finally, I was able to catch up, at least I wasn't too far behind the other top scholars.
- Master the Economy by Buy, Rent, and Trade. If you want to buy a card, go to Peakmonster so that we can find out the cheapest price/reasonable price to buy. As a scholar, I did this to buy Chaos Legion reward cards because at the beginning Scholar did not provide reward cards. If we still want to play with capital that is not too large, we can rent a card at [Peakmonster] (https://peakmonsters.com/rentals), the advantage of renting a card is that we will not suffer a loss if the price of the card we buy falls, but it applies On the other hand, we will not make a profit if the price of the card increases. Apart from cards, we can also invest in Splinterlands SPS tokens. By staking SPS we can get passive income and also better rewards in Splinterlands battles.
Join a Guild to get more rewards, by joining a Guild we can take part in Brawl, battles between guilds and get extra SPS and Merits to buy Gladiator cards, examples of prizes we get after Brawl end :
Sometimes there is also a bonus from the guild leader. If we can win a lot of battles we will get extra SPS or other rewards such as SPS/card delegation.
Apart from Ranked battle and Brawl Splinterlands also has other battles to get extra SPS, namely Tournament:
After we have successfully achieved the rating we want in Ranked Battle, which means that our abilities have developed well enough, we can try to take part in the Tournament. Tournaments are different from other battles because most of us have to pay a certain amount of DEC token, and usually we will get a prize in the form of SPS token. If we don't succeed in reaching a certain rating to get a prize then we will lose our DEC without getting anything. For players who are veteran/pro players and have strong cards, tournaments are a favorite place to look for additional prizes.
Final tip to get more tips and strategies we can join Forums and Social Media: such as Discord Splinterlands, Twitter Splinterlands, Telegram, etc.
