In this post I want to spend a short time talking about the FIRE deck and Modern must own monsters, specifically RARE.
I will only give a final score based on a Level 1 but will talk about the potential of a card at MAX Level, Also I wont touch on cards which are Starter cards.
This will form part of a 6 part mini series where I delve into what I believe is the best RARE Modern mosters to own, looking at both Utility, Synergy and Cost.
TENYII STRIKER
Tenyii, Its an amazing card, its got decent attack, decent health and comes with a good opening ability in Sneak. At Level 1 you get x2 Melee, x2 Speed and x6 HP with Sneak. Move on up to MAX Level you get x5 Melee, x4 Speed and x7 HP with Sneak, Dodge and Backfire.
So at MAX level not only will you hit like a truck but also have the high potential to evade opposition attacks combining high speed with Dodge. However that’s not to take away anything from Level 1, You still have a decent monster there and at 5 Mana it will fit nicely into most mana cost matches, its only downfall is its speed.
Overall Score 6/10.
Tarsa or Pyre, it doesn’t matter, both would improve this card overall, most I would bet would take Tarsa for that +1 Melee and +1 HP meaning a Level 1 would do x3 Melee and have x7 HP. However don’t discount Pyre that +1 Speed really good improve the survivability of this card and be potentially more beneficial long term. Either way you cant ignore the amazing Synergy between this card and both Summoners.
Overall Score 10/10.
Currently the cost is at $0.47 per BCX / 141 DEC - MAX Copy $54 / 16.2K DEC, So in costing terms its a cheap card for its in game stats, Especially when you take into consideration the Synergy it provides. My recommendation would be to skip the MAX level and instead go one level down for $40 / 12K DEC, save the additional $14 to invest elsewhere. You will still get pretty much all a MAX copy has to offer.
Overall Score 8/10.
Most defiantly a strong contender for the Best RARE FIRE Modern Monster, it offers great Utility, Synergy and Cost and for that id 100% recommend anyone adding this card to their decks.
Overall Score 24/30.
FINEAS RAGE
Fineas is another amazing card, its got great attack, Great health and amazing speed and comes with a handy opening ability in Reach. At Level 1 you get x2 Melee, x5 Speed and x8 HP with Reach. Move on up to MAX Level you get x4 Melee, x6 Speed and x11 HP with Reach, Oppress and Retaliate.
So just like Tenyii at MAX level not only will you hit like a truck but also have the high potential to evade opposition attacks combining high speed and even if it does get hit Retaliate will hopefully activate meaning half the attack will go back at the attacker. However Level 1 your still getting a really reliable and versatile card, Whilst on the high mana side it could come clutch in the high mana battles as a secondary tank.
Overall Score 8/10.
Tarsa or Pyre, again it doesn’t matter, both would improve this card overall, The likelihood as with Tenyii is Tarsa for that +1 Melee and +1 HP meaning a Level 1 would do x3 Melee and have x9 HP. However again don’t right offPyre that +1 Speed would give this card X6 speed making it almost unhittable. Either way the Synergy between this card and both Summoners it again immense.
Overall Score 10/10.
Currently the cost is at $4.16 per BCX / 1.2K DEC - MAX Copy $478 / 144K DEC, So in costing terms, yes its an expensive one and this is to be expected from a more established older modern card, it will come with a price tag which is one area this card will be let down. But don’t be put off even at level 1 this card is very good and I recommend any new player to at least rent this card, rent cost at the moment is $0.24 DEC a day, give it ago and see the potential is has before investing.
Overall Score 6/10.
Most defiantly one of the best you can get at RARE level, very strong card both Utility, and Synergy Wise, yes its let down by the Cost, but all in all id recommend this card any day, especially a Level 1.
Overall Score 24/30.
DJINN APPRENTICE
A real strong card in Djinn, whilst not a Melee monster like the other 2 Magic hits just as hard in and Deck and Djinn is no exception. At Level 1 x2 Magic, x2 Speed and x4 HP so not the best in HP but that magic will be a wildcard in any FIRE deck cutting to the core instantly and mitigating any potential armour worries. A MAX Level will get x4 Magic, x4 Speed and x5 HP. So even at MAX level your not getting any high HP but what you are getting is high damage output especially when you now consider this MAX level card has Giant Killer meaning any monster higher than 10 Mana cost Djinn will hit that monster for x8 Magic which will melt any tank.
Overall Score 7/10.
Synergy with any of the current Summoners isn’t going to be a strong mix with Djinn but at least with Tarsa your getting another +1 HP or with Pyre that extra speed means you have a stronger chance to lay down that firepower first. What this card really needs is a FIRE Alric which im hoping and banking on for my own personal FIRE deck, will come in the way of the NEW Legendary summoners.
Overall Score 5/10.
Currently the cost is at $0.12 per BCX / 37 DEC - MAX Copy $14 / 4K DEC, So in costing terms, This card is a steal. A max copy card anywhere for $14 is unheard of! Yes its not the best Synergy card or Survivability card but it has possible future potential and one I would take a gamble on while the prices are so good as you know this would be the case forever.
Overall Score 10/10.
Most defiantly one them cards to pick up for a future gamble, yes its not one that Synergises well and it will probably only last a round maybe 2 but it does dish out real damage and all it needs the Developers to drop a +1 Magic summoner on the FIRE team and this card will be clutch and you bet that cost will sky rocket.
Overall Score 22/30.
Overall:
My advice based on all the information ahead of me would be to invest in Tenyii Striker, it ticks all the boxes we are looking at and want from a RARE card and more. You could take a gamble on Djinn and I would suggest at that price doing so. Fineas, Rent for that price Rent is your option unless you wish to splash then you cant go wrong there its a solid all out card.
