Custom dimensions 2500x1500 px (1).jpeg

Hello Hive

It's another wondering gaming day and a great opportunity to present my battle to my hive family. In the recent happenings, the spl team has made some crucial announcements that we hope will gear the community forward. As we hope for better days, I must commend the latest expected SPS Governance proposal being put forth by the team. I personally think it's a step in the right direction. That being said, the battle mage secrets of this week's features the wands out ruleset. In the sections to come, I will be discussing the ruleset and its best strategic practices. Before then, If you want to be a participant in this weekly activity, kindly follow the instructions highlighted in the weekly announcement posts.

RULESET: Wands Out

img_combat-rule_wands-out_150.png

In the wands-out ruleset, only monsters with magic attacks are allowed for the battle. The image above indicates a battle with this wands-out ruleset. Winning or losing a battle is always associated with the approach that a player takes in tackling the given ruleset. Every ruleset has a better manner to approach and with the exclusion of other attack types, the wands-out ruleset becomes more precise, and its strategy points in a specific direction which is the ability to counter magic effects. There are ways in which magic damages can be countered and each of them is discussed in the strategy section of this post.

Strategy used for this Battle

The list of anti-magic abilities in spl is as follows; Phase, Void, counterspell, amplify, Void Armor, and silence. These are the things to consider if you ever want to win a battle with the wands-out ruleset. I believe many of you know what each ability does so I will proceed to discuss what I did differently from my opponent.

The three tools that differentiated my team from that of my opponent were the Void, Silence, and affliction. The Void ability was given to my monsters by the summoner. This helped reduce the magic damage they took. Still, on the issue of countering magic damage, the silencing ability played a crucial role by suppressing the enemy's magic damage, denying them the benefit from their summoner.

While the void and the silencing ability were countering magic, the affliction ability made sure to stop its targets from healing or being healed. Also while the affliction was common in both teams, the opponent team lacked the void and silence ability which led to them losing the battle.

Team Selection

Summoner: IMMORTALIS
Rarity/Element: Legendary/Earth
stat: +1 Health, Void, & Shatter

image.png

The legendary earth summoner Immortalis fits in perfectly for a wands-out kind of battle. The summoner's stats are most of the abilities needed to counter magic damage. Immortalis offer increased health, a void ability, and at the same time the shatter ability. This Void ability is anti-magic and decreases the damage incurred by the monsters.

MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN

image.png

The presence of this monster simply means that the opponent's monsters will focus on eliminating it before they can attack another on the team except the attacking monster has the scattered shot ability. The taunt this monster possesses saves its teammates from being attacked while it is still on the battlefield.

MAGI OF CHAOS

image.png

This monster was included for the purpose of attack only. It had three magic attacks which isn't a bad weapon. Although by default, it didn't come with any ability judging from the level it was deployed from, it however enjoyed the benefits from the summoner.

REGAL PERYTON

image.png

This monster battled just like others and enjoyed the benefits offered by the summoner. One of its advantages in the battle was the aspect of speed. It appeared to be the fastest monster on the battlefield which means it takes turn first before others. Its magic damage is not also bad at the rate of two which it fought with.

GOBLIN PSYCHIC

image.png

To help front-row monsters last longer in battle, it was necessary to include a monster that could refill their health when it has been damaged. Goblin Psychic covered that aspect of health refilling and at the same time ensured that its targets were being afflicted, meaning they can no longer heal or be healed.

ELVEN MYSTIC

image.png

The second neutral monster used on my team came in with the silencing ability. This ability reduced the magic damage of the opponent's monster by one making it even more difficult for them to damage the health of my team's monsters already having the void ability. Attack-wise, this monster wasn't so great because it had only one magic damage.

SPORCERER

image.png

Sporcerer completed the team with its two magic damage offers and a reasonable number of health. It has the rust ability but of course that wasn't needed in this battle at all because there was no monster with armor on the battlefield.

That will be all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the read. Please join me next week for another battle mage secrets challenge same place. Leave a comment on how the strategy can be better or any other of your choice.
