Time Mage Review
The Time Mage is a pretty unique card to play just based off of its "Slow" Ability that lowers the speed of all opposing monsters by 1!
Not many monsters have this ability, and the other "Slow" monster that I generally play is the Neutral Reward card Creeping Ooze.
When playing the Life Splinter, you would want to play this card over the Creeping Ooze as just for 3 mana more, you get more health to tank, and some magic damage that would never miss while bypassing Armor!
In this challenge, you will see me play the Time Mage at Level 3 at Gold leagues as you would definitely want to get the nice sweet 2 Magic Damage! (You can play it at level 3 at Silver league too 😉)
My Strategy
- Play it with Mother Khala or Lorna Shine Summoner.
In Order to grant rant the team more survivability. - Make sure you have a Range / Magic / Non attacking Monster in front of the Time Mage.
You want to keep your the Time Mage away from "Snipe" Attacks - You do not want to have the Time Mage as the Last Monster, use tankier monster like Uraeus.
You would want to make sure to protect the Time Mage from those "Sneak" Monsters. - Enjoy being faster than your opponent and see them drop before being able to strike. 😂

In this battle, the opponent is already using really slow monsters, so my team has an absolute advantage, especially if I can remove 1 or 2 of his / her monsters from play before they can strike.
As you can see, I used Adelade Brightwing in front of it hoping that if it comes to it, the Time Mage would survive longer.
The Djinn Renova was also a key monster in play in this battle as it provided extra health to Kralus at the front as well as my Light Elemental.
Highlight of the battle: Time Mage created a bigger speed gap between the opponent and my Light Elemental, making it more likely to dodge / evade the enemy attacks (especially with the "Flying" Ability coming into play).

A pretty CLOSE battle here, but thanks to Spirit Hoarder, the tide of the battle turned to my favor!
As you can see, the opponent used the Drake Arnak which grants all the monster summoned with Armor, he / she has also played 2 "Flying" monsters with really high Speed stats which makes them hard to hit.
This would have been really troublesome if I did not have any Magic Monster in Play. (Magic NEVER misses and will BYPASS armor 😍)
Highlight of the battle: Time Mage equalised the speed playing field allowing my monsters a chance to strike back when it matters. There are very few good magic Monsters with 4 mana and lower so it was great when you have some choices at the back, in this case I had Light Elemental and Time Mage. Plus, Spirit Hoarder made it very easy to keep my monster in play!
Conclusion
This challenge has been really really fun! I actually never really played the Time Mage as I always find its damage lacking till I have upgraded it to Level 3!
I think I might participate in more of these challenges as it really makes me analyse and play monsters that I am not used to!
