Hello Co-Splinterlands Players!
This is my "SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE" post for this week for #Splinterlands with a theme monster:
Angelic Mandarin is a Range Water Splinter Rare Card that cost 3 mana. This card is also part of the ongoing event of Chaos Legion Edition. Below are the Stats of the Angelic Mandarin Card :
At Level 1 | Angelic Mandarin has 1 Range Damage, 2 Speed, 0 Shield, 5 HP and No Ability |
Damage | will increase at Level 5 |
Speed | will increase at Level 3 and 6. |
Shield | will not get any. |
HP | will increase at Level 2 and 7 |
At Level 4 | Angelic Mandarin will have the Triage Ability |
TRIAGE - Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage | |
At Level 8 | Angelic Mandarin will have the Silence Ability |
SILENCE - Reduces the Magic Attack of all enemy Monsters |
For this Battle Challenge, I will be using a Level 4 Angelic Mandarin.

RULE SETS
CLOSE RANGE | - Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. |
SPREADING FURY | - All Monsters have the Enrage ability. |
MANA CAP | - 46 |
AVAILABLE SPLINTER | - Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon |
My Opponent's Battle History consists of Water and Death Splinter. For Water, he used Kelya as Summoner and a mix of melee, range and magic damages. For Death, he used Thaddius Brood as Summoner and a Sneak combos.
MY LINE UP
![]() | I chose Bortus as my Summoner so that if ever my opponent use Magic, I already counters it. I also consider Kelya, in the end, Bortus weighs more for me.😁 | |
MONSTERS: | ||
![]() | I chose Disintegrator for his Demoralize Ability. I want to reduce the melee damage if ever my opponent use the Sneak Combo again, as I saw in his Battle History. I know that he is not a very Tanky Card, that is why I will also use Wave Brood at Position 6 to take the Backline damage of my Opponent. | |
![]() | Since there is the Close Range Rule. I chose Cornealus as my Off Tank. His high HP and Heal Ability can sustain a large amount of damage. | |
![]() | I picked Nerissa Tridawn for her high Magic Damage. So even my opponent use Thaddius Brood, Nerissa can still inflict a decent damage with 2 Magic Damage | |
![]() | Because of Close Range Rule, my opponent might use a lot of Range Damage Cards, another reason why I will use Wave Brood at Positing 6 for his Taunt Ability and with Angelic Mandarin's Triage Ability, Wave Brood will sustain the damages that he will take. | |
![]() | Together with Mermaid Healer, another card with Triage Ability. I am confident that Wave Brood will sustain the damages. An alternative card for this purpose is Spirit Hoarder of Neutral Splinter. Unfortunately during this battle, Spirit Hoarder is not available for me to use. | |
![]() | As I mention above, I chose Wave Brood for his Taunt Ability because my opponent might use a lot of Range Damage Cards because of the Close Range Rule. |
THE BATTLE
My opponent chose Death Splinter and used Thaddius Brood as his Summoner :
Summoner | Thaddius Brood |
---|---|
Monsters: | |
Position 1 | Cursed Windeku |
Position 2 | Bone Golem |
Position 3 | Mantoid |
Position 4 | Disintegrator |
Position 5 | Supply Runner |
Position 6 | Dhampir Stalker |
ROUND 1
My Opponent's Supply Runner attacks first because of its Speed Buff. My prediction that my opponents will use a lot of Range Damage is correct, thus his Range Splinters attacks Wave Brood but their damages will just be healed by Mermaid Healer and Angelic Mandarin. Because of this, his attacks has been divided while my attacks focuses on my opponent's first position. No eliminations yet for this Round.
ROUND 2
On this round, Cursed Windeku attacks Disintegrator first because of Enrage. Followed by Supply Runner and Dhampir Stalker attacking Wave Brood which will be healed again by Angelic Mandarin and Mermaid Healer. My Disintegrator will be the first to be eliminated after he attacks Cursed Windeku and took damage from Thorn Ability. But in return, Nerissa Tridawn will eliminate Cursed Windeku. This round will end with 1 Elimination from both sides.
ROUND 3
Round 3 starts with Cornealus on Enrage attacking Bone Golem. Followed again by Supply Runner and Dhampir Stalker attacking Wave Brood which will be healed again by Angelic Mandarin and Mermaid Healer. This has become a cycle already. Their damage is not doing anything to Wave Brood. While I am chipping off little by little the Shield and HP of their First Position. This Round will end with no additional elimination.
ROUND 4
Round 4 does the same pattern of Round 3 up to the elimination of Bone Golem, making Mantoid going to the First Position. Because of this, their Range Damage to Wave Brood has become lesser. At this point of the Battle, it became clear who will be the Victor. Round 4 ends with 1 elimination for my side and 2 eliminations for my opponent.
ROUND 5 to 9
The attack patterns has become a cycle for Round 5 to 9. One by one eliminating my opponent. The battle could have end on Round 8 if Wave Brood did not miss the attack on Dhampir Stalker. Then on Round 9 with Cornealus' attack, I have grabbed the Victory.

Taunt Ability with a Healing Ability is really a great combination. I first encountered and learned this strategy was with the Life Splinter Shieldbearer together with Divine Healer and Venari Crystalsmith. As I play on Gold League, I also learned that I can use this strat on Water Splinter with Kraken, Crustacean King, Albatross and Tortisian Chief.
With the release of Chaos Legion Edition, more options with this strategy has been released as well. One of this is what you've seen above :
Wave Brood + Angelic Mandarin.
The difference of Wave Brood + Angelic Mandarin Combination with others is that you can position Wave Brood on Position 6 and can still do damage, because of this, your opponent's attack will be divided as you've seen on my battle.
Another application of Angelic Mandarin's Triage is if the Target Practice Rule is set.
Target Practice - All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.
What you need to do is just put a High HP Non-melee Monsters on second position, Your opponent's Non-melee monster will attack that monster first then your Angelic Mandarin is going to heal that monster with her Triage Ability.
So this is it guys. This concludes my "SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE" post for this week.
I hope you learn something from this.
and for reading and taking an interest up to this.
