A Splinterlands Post
As noted in my previous post. The Splinterlands team issues two challenges a week (Subject to change) to the Splinterlands community. This post is an entry into one of those challenges named Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Legends in the Making. This week the wanted narrative for the challenge is to reflect on our beginnings, milestones, and what keeps us coming back to the battlefield. The challenge post highlights the following questions: (1) How did you discover Splinterlands? (2) What was your first card or most memorable early battle? (3) How has your strategy evolved since you started? (4) What are your goals in the game now? For my entry into the challenge I will highlight each question and give an answer. If you are interested in visiting the official challenge post you can do so by clicking on the following highlighted link (read all the rules carefully before participating): https://hive.blog/hive-13323/@splinterlands/weekly-splinterlands-community-engagement-challenge-legends-in-the-making.
How did you discover Splinterlands?
Through a comment on one of my post creations. One of the founders of the game interacted with my post creation and that led me to learning about a game that was still in development. This was before there was a game to play. Before there were packs to open. Little did I know the journey I was about to take part in.
What was your first card or most memorable early battle?
First card was gifted to me but I have no memory of what it was. I don't remember my first battle either but I do remember the early days of battling when tournaments were run offsite in brackets managed by those who hosted them. The battles themselves were still taking place on the official Splinterlands site. Score keeping (winners/losers/bracket movements) were managed offsite. Roll call for battle was done in discord.
How has your strategy evolved since you started?
I'm basically a fossil when it comes to battling. High health in the front/ Magic anywhere and archers in the back. My deck is still mainly Beta cards as well. To be fair I haven't played much in the past 2-3 years but there was time when I played for hours daily. I even was the first or one of the first to run delegated accounts long before renting was possible.
What are your goals in the game now?
As noted above I don't play much anymore but that doesn't mean I don't participate. I gave some passing thought on how I want to continue and its likely I focus more on rentals and playing the markets than the game itself. I am also giving thought to moving my game play towards the Splinterlands secondary game known as SoulKeep. I'll still dabble in ranked Splinterlands play from time to time but unfortunately there is only 24 hours in a day and my participation is now based on utilizing my time in the most productive way. I'm also in the market to add to my max card collection.
Concluding Thoughts
That was a fun challenge with interesting questions. I been with Splinterlands since the start and hope to be around for many moons longer. I look forward to when the gaming world wakes up and realizes #play2earn games is where its at. We got a taste of what that might be like a few years back when SPL assets peaked. I believe there will be a time that insanity will repeat and this time stick around. Splinterlands and its community just needs to be ready when it does. That's it for now. As always thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing you at our next post. Good luck on the battle-field.

Love it dude!
Such an OG, that's crazy - I wish I had actually looked into it when I saw the Kickstarter but I was so pissy over Spells of Genesis I passed on it lol
#whoops
Thanks for stopping by.
I hear you; I have a similar story about being pissy with land. I stubbornly refused to purchase any for months because I missed the early sales. I eventually purchased some PLOTS from secondary markets.
You Are Correct!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Your gif finding is always on point.
