If you want to buy Boosters from the official Splinterlands site the only option currently (8/8/2021) available is the DICE collection. UNTAMED is sold out and all Monster Maniacs are waiting on the fourth edition of cards to be released.
While waiting on the fourth edition Splinterland players are going purchase happy within the marketplace purchasing single cards at all time high prices.
There's just 41,000 DICE Boosters left for sale and with the current buy mentality of the Splinterlands Player base these won't last long. So if you are a DICE collector take note and get yourself some DICE boosters before its too late to do so because if you wait too long you might be seing the "Sold Out" message that we have all become very familiar with.
Dice Legendary Collection
ORBS
Before there was DICE the collection known as ORBS were being sold. Orbs sold for 2500 DEC ($2.50 USD) and can now only be purchased on secondary markets such as Hive-Engine. After Orbs sold out DICE was introduced at an increase price of 3000 DEC. The value of DEC has sky rocketed causing the price of DICE to do the same (currently 3000 DEC is worth about $15 USD). There's no gaurantee that DICE will follow the same sale path as ORBS but comparing the two is as close as we can get to possibly seeing what might be in store for DICE once they become sold out on the official Splinterlands Site.
The screen shot above shows the current value of an ORB booster pack when purchased from Hive-Engine. As shown above currently an ORB booster will cost you near $52 USD. That's a heafty increase from the orginal $2.00 USD ORBS cost when still in print.
Will DICE see the same increase. I think so but like all things in life there's only two things guaranteed death and taxes so only invest what you can afford to lose. While Orbs are being sold for $52* USD its important to note that the sales volume is very low. Only two ORBS sold in the past 24 hours.

I have been considering purchasing a few Dice and hodling them in hopes they appreciate in value like the Orbs. But with Chaos League coming sometime next month (hopefully) I'm a little skeptical that they are going to skyrocket like the other booster packs have. I guess it comes down to the question, "Do I hodl my DEC for SPS airdrops or use to to buy Dice and HODL them?"
I was thinking the same. Plus its possible that DEC price drops and who knows what that does to the value of secondary DICE packs. Personally I'm going to wait for Chaos League and buy as much packs as my DEC allows for resale when they are officially sold out. Fingers crossed DEC keeps it value or increases before then. I'm also curious as to what the SPS airdrop value of Chaos Boosters will be. There's no mention of them on the airdrop page of the SPS whitepaper.
You bring up a couple of good points. I hadn't even considered that CL boosters might also be worth airdrop points. And what if DEC is still $5/1000 when CL league is released? Will 2000 DEC buy 1 CL pack or will it buy 5 (assuming a $2 price for CL packs)?

I would think that DEC price for purchasing CL would be based on market value. I won't be using my DEC to purchase them if they aren't. I suspect DEC prices to be at all time highs just before or during CL presale. Once everyone starts opening the new packs DEC will get printed for CL card value. This means we might see a burn off of unwanted CL cards for their DEC value.Which might push down the USD of DEC. There's so much to consider. The good news, I don't think there's any wrong move. Only moves that are more profitable then others.

I bought 6 AZMARE DICE on Atomic Hub for an average $16.50/unit. Quite a savings and I'm holding them for investment purposes. When I stack some more WAX in that account I'll be buying more at that price.
Interesting, I just checked DEC and its up above the $0.00500 USD mark so you paid about on par with what they are worth on the official site. Looks like Hive-Engine has them for $17.XX+. Good luck with your investment. You get extra SPS airdrop points with every DICE booster you hold so the extra SPS dropped to you will help offset the price.
The SPS bonus is definitely a huge plus for holding packs!
