Splinterlands: Booster Packs Current Values

in Splinterlands2 days ago (edited)

Today I sat here and wondered; which isn't an unusual occurrence for me but the wondering I'm doing currently is the wondering about the current Trade value of a CHAOS Legion Pack. Which then in-turn lead me to wonder what is the current Trade value of all the main NFT sets (that are no longer in print and originally sold by Splinterlands). Which lead me to the conclusion of "why not make a post out of it". Which is the conclusion I have for most my Hive Related inquiries and/or thoughts. So this is that post and below are the numbers. Mini sets will be excluded with the exception of ORBS. I just so happen to own some ORBS and I currently am also wondering what the current trade value of them are. And if I'm going to be checking; no harm in showcasing that value here.

As you can likely tell by the dates of the last sold the sales volume on the oldest of the older packs (Alpha, Beta, Orbs, UNTAMED) are very low. There is numerous reasons for this: the main one being their supply is small so those who hold them want to continue doing so. You won't be getting your hands on any of these unless you are willing to pay the premium. The other being is once a set is in circulation for so long the NFT's inside them get removed from the modern ranked format and placed into the "free for all" format. This to some makes the NFT's inside the older packs less desirable from a utility stand-point. That's not to say they don't have their perks. For example: older sets have higher minimum DEC value attached to them. There's other benefits to holding older sets as well but this post isn't about that. This post is strictly for showcasing the current values of the now out of print Splinterland sets. Want to get your hands on some of these bad boys? Seems like there should be a way to make money on Chaos packs. There is still some market liquidity so you can buy and sell. I bought and opened some for awhile. That wasn't great. I think buy and hold would be necessary but ultimately the cards inside the packs need to appreciate and

Might have to hold for a long time when Chaos goes Wild cards may take a hit.

Agreed, sales volume might become an issue to. Hopefully something is implemented that gets some of these cards/packs off market but it isn't looking likely for the near future. I fully believe the affordable price of CL is in part making Splinterlands lose sales. Seeing out of print packs at $0.40 or below isn't an encouraging site for anyone who might want to purchase future editions for investment purposes.

I'm very excited to see what path Rebellion packs go on

I'm interested as well. I haven't hoarded any but it will be a good indication if investing in packs for the purpose of resale after out of print is still viable or not.
