What Is A PLOT?
A PLOT represents the smallest section of land one can own within the Splinterlands game. PLOT(s) can be purchased on Hive Dex's such as Hive-Engine or TribalDex. Alternately one can trade for a claimed PLOT directly on the Splinterlands site from other Splinterland players.

Screenshoted above we see that the last trade that took place for an unclaimed PLOT came at a trade value of 120 HIVE Tokens for one PLOT. The date of the trade was 12/27/2024 and was purchased by @mcbot from @shujja123. That translates into a cost of roughly $40 USD. If we take a look at the Sell side of the trade orders we will see the next PLOT available for purchase is listed for trade at roughly 179 HIVE Tokens which currently has a USD value of $59* USD. If we take a look at the BUY side we can see the listed trade value is the same as the last traded for value, 120 HIVE Tokens ($40 USD). Considering these PLOTS were once offered at the trade value of $10-$20 USD from the official Splinterlands site those who originally purchased them have at the very least doubled their invested amount. That's not a bad return at all if you ask me.

Land speculation is like most of my investments lol I bought 6 plots for an average of $65 in May 2023 before alot of the infrastructure around land had been built. I waited for the developers and then built out the plots. Put cards on them farming. Even bought a few cards specifically for that purpose. Then decided that farming the plots wasn't worth it and sold all my plots for $25 each on February 2024. I was disappointed in the returns for farming. But I was also on cheap land using cheap cards. Sometimes you have to buy your way up to some good buffs to get any profits.
I have a handful of plots but claimed none of them. They are still sitting in one of my accounts. I had the thought process that everyone would claim owned plots in-game and I'd be left with some of the few plots that have yet to be claimed, in hopes that unclaimed PLOTS value increased. That bet did not work out, at least not yet. Who knows what might happen to some of these Splinterland assets if Hive can reach and maintain $1.00+.
Plots have retained their value from the original sale really well, to this day they are up 3X-6X which is not too bad.

They might not be near ATH fiat value but they are still above original purchase price.
