3 Years of Gratitude to the Splinterlands and Hive Community

Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

For this post, I will be refraining from my usual Splinterlands card reviews or battle strategies. Instead I want to dedicate this post in order to tell how grateful I am not only to Splinterlands but also to the overall Hive community, including all the people that I got to know within the last 3 years that I have been in the Hive blockchain.

Discovery of Splinterlands

I started playing Splinterlands in November of 2021 and I continue to play the game everyday for the last 3 year but before that, I have no in-depth knowledge about Cryptocurrency and Blockchain games. It was only after my friend lets me play Axie Infinity along with our other friends that I started to learn more about Crypto. While earning extra cash was great, playing Axie is just not my cup of tea so eventually, I started to look for other blockchain games which I could enjoy and that was where I come across Splinterlands and upon trying it I immediately got hooked into it which leads to the creation of this account and bought my first few packs during the Chaos Legion presale until I eventually able to have a competitive bronze modern deck. For those who were asking for the origin of my IGN, the names comes from a band that I was listening during that time.

Just like many others, I started my way beginning from bronze but with time, I slowly climb my way up until I finally reach the point where I was able to play at the highest leagues and it was thanks to the many Splinterlands creator on YouTube such as @stever82, @infidel1258, @aftersound and @bobaphet of Splinterlands 101 but the one that helped me the most when I was still a newbie is @luke-wtp although he was not active anymore. In his videos, he would specifically tell which are the cards the new players will need. He would even go and compile this guide on a Google Spreadsheet which is still accessible albeit not up-to date. If it wasn't for him, I might not be able to learn about Hive blogging or might take way longer before I could start my Hive journey.

The Splinterlands Community

Despite all the drama, Splinterlands has a very passionate community and if it was not for the community that continues to provide support to others, I do not think that I will be here, specifically to the small community that we have at Balthazar Guild with my fellow scholars and the New Bot Order which is my current Guild.

  • Balthazar Guild

I have been a scholar of Balthazar guild ever since the beginning of the program. Back then, I played the account @bltzr-wizard-223 which only has a bronze deck so in terms of earnings, its basically nothing except from others that were lucky to pull a gold foil legendary pre- soulbound era. But despite the low earnings, we have a community that loves the game, managed by @captainwhoco that would also organize events and tournaments, exclusive to our guild to win prizes and card delegations as well as live tournaments that involves the community streamed through Splinterlands.tv. After a year, I eventually get to managed @bltzr-wizard-726 which is delegated with max level gold foil Chaos Legion deck and has been playing it up to this date with 50% profit share including in tournaments. Using this account, I was also able to place myself in Diamond leaderboard way back when league caps where implemented by which 100% of the leaderboard prize which has allowed me to buy more cards.

  • New Bot Order

New Bot Order was a guild by @aruchard. Although the guild name implies that it was a guild made of bots, there are a few members in the guild that are human and playing manually, including me and all the brawls that we joined are entered manually. Our leader would even give DEC to help each members rental needs for their fray and if a member wins all of their matches, he may even give additional DEC if not packs. But most of all, he would even delegate some of his cards to other members. For me, he delegated an Arkemis the Bear and a Runi, which are both max level cards which has encourage me to challenge myself in the Higher leagues.

The Hive Community

Aside from Splinterlands, I was also very grateful to the Hive community for providing a platform where I could earn by creating content while being able to engage with different types of people from different parts of the world. I also like to thank the different Hive communities where I frequently post which includes the Splinterlands, Hive Learners, Holozing, Skatehive, Weekend Experience and Music community for continuously supporting me. The money that I earned through blogging has help me a lot when I was in a difficult situation. Don't want any drama so not gonna tell the specifics of that but now that I was on a more stable situation, my focus right now it to grow my account little by little not just organically, but also by powering up hive daily. As much, as I would want to create more content, my schedule as we approach to the end of the year gets more taxing but even on days that I was not able to write, I still try to read and comment on people's post.

The People's Guild Challenge

Currently, Splinterlands is running 3 different contest but aside from it, there was also the #tpgchallenge which is a unofficial Splinterlands contest initiated by @thepeoplesguild. Unlike the official contest, curation for the entries is not guaranteed but what it brings is the passion of the community to strive for better quality content on hive. I believe I already said it but the way Splinterlands contest was run previously makes it more of a chore than a hobby as the them of the contest mostly focus on battles which is not really bad but becomes boring when it becomes repetitive. Thankfully now, even the official contest has undergone changes which makes writing more fun than before.

Closing

I have much more that I want to say and many people that I want to thank to but it will probably become 3x as long of this post it I want to write them all but to all the people that I got to know through Splinterlands and Hive how grateful I am with everyone and the last 3 years that I was in the blockchain has become an important part of my life.

Thank you and see you on the next post!

Honored to be a part of your Splinterlands journey!

Looking forward to many more years.

I always though New Bot Order was a fully botted guild, good to know there are some humans there

Yeah. That was just our leader trolling but aside to our leaders alts that bots on wild, the rest plays manually in modern.

Nicely done, @saydie ! 3 years has surely just flown by - I'll be hitting mine in February and it feels like just yesterday that I arrived. At any rate, thanks for participating once again dude - congrats on 3 years!

It really is, specially when we are having fun with the things that we are doing. Thank you and happy thanksgiving!

Me too Saydie! I started playing Splinterlands and writing on Hive during Thanksgiving weekend in 2021. Nice to know we share a 3 year anniversary and congratulations on your accomplishments across the different accounts you own and scholar. I have quite a lot of good duels with 726!

Yeah.. Been the only one playing 726 but aside the core CL cards, I own all the rewards, riftwatchers and Rebellion cards in order to be competitive at certain extent. I also could have probably used some of our matches on my previous post. Thanks for reading and cheers to many more years of Splinterlands and Hive.

I'm curious how you decide to prioritize which cards you buy and rent to make your collection the best it can be. I'm trying to do this same process for Wild as I add key cards to the width of my collection to be better prepared for Wild battles.
