Taking a break

in Splinterlands2 days ago

I thought I would never come to say this but I have to reveal sadly that I am taking a break from serious Splinterlands gaming for the time being. I do still own cards and I sold some, the reason for which I can briefly explain.

I miss those days when each moment I would be thinking of the rating I ought to reach before the season ended. It was like an obsession that I loved and cared about. I would always play and loved the challenges although I am an average player.

Things started to change when more cards were issued and more editions came about. I did participate in some but the complications of the game started gaining on me and it was hard to keep up. The cards with dual abilities and the fact that almost everyone I knew turned to bot made it even more of a put-off. I also bought a bot but then came the pass thingy and sometimes I forgot to buy the wild pass and then ultimately I gave up. In between, a family member's serious illness shattered me mentally and I lost interest in my online life altogether.

I hope to make a comeback later and start playing someday. I have not sold many cards except for some that would help make me contribute my bit. I am also now writing on Hive.

Meanwhile, I read many articles on Hive about other games like Moon Kart but I guess it is beyond my thing. So, I will stay away for now. I do hope I can come across some simple games on Hive that will be as exciting as Splinterlands or does the magic happen only once?

Speaking of cards, I used to love the old system of season chests when we players got golden cubes, chickens, and Dec. It was simple but exciting and nothing beat the chance to boast about one's rewards on the discord servers. I am not sure if Splinterlands would ever re-introduce such a format when one could simply get dec and cards from season chests. The simplicity of the game was what attracted players from all over the world and the excitement of the strategies when Tavern would be live with discussions about how to use the tactic to beat Mylor. Unfortunately, many abused the system and farmed it. Although I am not sure how the abuse could have been prevented.

Whatever the future holds for the game, I just hope it never ceases and that many more players join this wonderful game and keep on playing. Maybe Splinterlands devs can also think of a spin-off - one that can attract the players who left. One that is simple but requires less investment, more challenging, and abuse proof.

Meanwhile, keep smiling and eat healthy. If you are not on Hive yet, please join and start blogging. The magic of this platform is that you are on a decentralized platform. Hive empowers the common man and woman. You can change lives. It has changed mine.

Give yourself a break. If you feel like it, you can play again at any time. 😌

Its sad that you're going through tough time life sayee ji and I agree that there are many changes in which is not easy for everyone to cope up with. You're an amazing person and hope things will be sorted in your life soon. Sometimes it's good to take a break and it helps to focus on things that also requires our attention. Take care of yourself and your family. Enjoy the break

This is a common problem across all games.
No solution to it.
