Things are moving really slow these days in Splinterlands. With CL-packs costing 4$ there is no motivation at all for anybody to buy these packs.
On hive-engine CL-packs are sold for around 2.9 $.
What will the future bring? Here are some of my thoughts.
- Bots being either washed out or they will have to buy at least the starter-set cards to earn something. This will be a short term spike in demand for CL-cards, which will lead to higher card prices short term, but probably not enough to raise the value of the packs to 4 $.
- End of SPS-airdrop will free up lots of DEC. What will holders of that amounts do with their DEC? They could transfer it to $ to buy packs. That would mean the value of DEC would decrease, because the supply / offer would increase a lot. So packs (or cards) will be worth less -> no incentive to buy packs. Or the DEC is used to buy cards. That would result in higher card prices, which could help sell more packs again. But why should the top DEC-holders buy more cards, when you can expect, thta they hold already a complete deck or two?
Right now I don't see the devs adressing this situation. 4$ a pack is just too expensive for the cards you receive usually.
If Splinterlands wants to be a play to earn game in the future, there will have to be significant changes to gain new players, which will be able to compete and level up at a faster pace with reasonable investments.
But I could be completely wrong, what do you think?

My second time in Gold was ok, but I fear, that the rental prices will increase more so maybe it was my last time for some time to play Gold.
