SPS Staking VS DEC airdrop. Who is the Winner?
Since SPS Staking started, it gave us some crazy numbers. It started above 400% APR. If you divide that to 12 months, that will yield to about 33% interest each month! However, while more people stake their SPS, the APR started dropping. At the time I'm writing this, It's currently at 204% APR or about 17% interest monthly. Still not bad.
But how does it compare to DEC airdrop?
Let's set an example by making a $1000.00 investment. Here are the current prices:
1SPS=USD0.428977
1DEC=USD0.00755144
Option 1: SPS Staking:
USD1000.00 =2331.127SPS
If we stake it, at 17% monthly interest, it will yield us 396.29159 SPS
Option 2: DEC Airdrop
USD1000.00=132432.790DEC
I used a calculator to check the daily airdrop, and it yielded approximately 22SPS daily. Multiply it to 30 days would yield 660.
AND THE RESULTS ARE IN!!!
SPS Staking - 396 SPS Monthly
DEC Airdrop - 660 SPS Monthly
WE HAVE A WINNER: DEC AIRDROP BY A LANDSLIDE!!!
I would also like to add up that besides the monthly SPS interest, SPS staking is locked for 1 month, while DEC airdrop, you have the freedom to use it freely whenever you want.
Hope this case study help you on your investment. Also, have fun playing Splinterlands!
Funny... i was thinking at the same thing today, and did a bit of math as well and got close to your numbers!
I know numbers don't lie, but there is one thing that initially i (we) did not took in consideration... Very soon the SPS will have a lot of utility in the game, so stacking it i think is the best option...
Obvious everybody is free do handle their stake as they want!
You are correct. There is no right or wrong way. either way, you are earning while enjoying the game and stacking on those SPS and DEC.

Thank you for this comment. This is very helpful. I'll check things out and hopefully, I'll do my introduction to HIVE.
It's really good analysis, and thanks for your sharing!
As you said, it's not a right or wrong decision, everyone need to take consideration of all the scenarios and make the decision by themselves.
In another hand, SPS APR will be decreased everyday, so SPS staking will be less than what expected :)
That's true @sodom-lv . However, no one knows how the price of SPS would go. Now that SPS is not yet used on the actual game, it's going on an uptrend. Once we get near to its actual in game application, we might see something very interesting on the prices.😀
