GOBLIN SHAMAN

Edition: ALPHA/BETA
Rarity: COMMON
Element: FIRE
Attack: MAGIC at level 3
Abilities: WEAKEN//SLOW at level 5
Goblin Shaman is one of the key monsters on the fire team. It's power is in reducing the health of the entire enemy team even at level 1. It is fairly cheap on mana so can be played even in low mana matches. It als comes with 4 hit points making it a great meat shield as you will see in the battle I am sharing.
I frequently place Goblin Shaman in the second position in order to protect my backline monsters from the snipe attack or blast damage.
Here is my red vs. green battle using Goblin Shaman: Goblin Shaman battle link
The Ruleset
This is a fairly high mana ruleset for Silver league level. There is no healing and every monster receives 2 armor. The choices were Fire, Earth or Life.
The Strategy
Looking at my opponent battle history I realized they are most likely to play a green team led by Mylor. Since I am going against Mylor I prefer to use ranged attack monsters as my backline. Mylor enables the whole team with thorns so it is a very bad idea to use melee monsters against Mylor team. My strategy was to use Goblin Shaman to lower the health of the opposing team and to place him in the second position to soak up the snipe damage. Also range attack monsters typically cannot attack from the first position therefore After putting the strongest tank I had in front I place Goblin Shaman in second position and in third position the ranged attack monster that can attack from the first position.
The Summoner
I chose Pyre as a summoner because I can only choose between Pyre for speed or Malric for +1 melee damage. Since I only have one monster tank with melee for me the speed was way more valuable.
The Tank
This a great tank with shield and reduced damage from melee and ranged attacks. I chose it to soak up the majority of the ranged damage. Since the ruleset adds 2 shield to it, Lava is capable of taking 8 ranged damage on it's shield.
First Backline Monster - Goblin Shaman
Goblin Shaman takes down health of the entire enemy team by one point and it serves as a great meat shield with added 2 shield points and 4 health points for only 3 mana points
Second Backline Monster - Lava Launcher
Lava Launcher is a great new rewards card that serves as a secondary tank due to it's 6 shield and ability to perform ranged attacks from the first position. It also does a ranged damage of 3 even at level 1.
Third Backline Monster - Gargoya Devil
Gargoya Devil is a neutral monser with flying ability and a shield and can also attack from the first position even at level 1. It does two ranged damage and has 3 health points. It is another great new rewards card that I love.
Fourth Backline Monster - Fire Elemental
Fire Elemental is a very quick monster with 4 speed that does 2 ranged damage with a blast. Great to soften up the shield in the second position on the opposing team.
Fifth Backline Monster - Ettin Spearman
Ettin Spearman is a great ranged monster to put in the back to protect against sneak attack. Even at level 1 it comes with 8 health points and 3 ranged damage. It is slow, but the hit and health points make up for this drawback. I am using a gold foil which brings DEC bonus in the winning battles :)
As you can see in this hard fought battle both Living Lava and Goblin Shaman have perished, but they did their job too well for the opposing team to have any chance of winning this battle:
The red team wins:
