Speed, the stat on the middle left portion of the card is one of the under-appreciated stats in game in the bronze league.
Most players would either pick their cards based on the abilities and how massive damage points are. However, in my personal view,
I think speed is just as important as anything else as a fraction of an individual card turn could mean either your victory or your loss.
Splinterlands tutorial defined the speed of the card as the one that "determines the order in which characters attack. It also makes the character harder to hit with Melee or Ranged attacks."
In other words, It would be best if you would mind the speed of your cards and your opponent's usual cards as stated in his previous matches. Unless, the match is the a reverse game wherein the low

Even gold cards won't help you when your cards are to slow. I was able to evade a few and keep the serpent going for a decent duration.

With a few evaded attacks and the advantage of hitting first, none of my cards were eliminated...

Even with an expensive summoner, I was able to get an advantage with just speed and good choice of cards.
