Nice post man.How much you spent is exactly why i have not started splinterlands Does not seem like the return is good enough to pay for the initial investment. Glad you are enjoying the game, and best of luck achieving your goals!

Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the kind remarks!
There are a lot of factors involved but the reason I decided to invest is Splinterlands has a tried and true method for generating appreciation with the cards, it just takes time.
New cards can either be found in booster packs or reward chests so they are easy to obtain. Eventually those packs sell out and those reward cards hit their max amount generated and that's it. Another one will never be created.
You also have to consume the cards to level them up. For example I need 400 Deep Lurker's to get that monster to level 10 which means 399 other Deep Lurker's will be destroyed in the process.
So the formula is essentially this. There is a limited amount of supply with the cards, some must be destroyed to level them up, further reducing supply over time, and demand goes up as the game grows and obtains more players.
Every set that has come before the newest one has followed the same path. Starts out "cheap" when they're available and becomes expensive when they're not.
But timing is super important and I happen to get in when markets overall are struggling. That's nice because cards and tokens are much cheaper than they were but when they continue to go down you simply don't earn enough in the game short term to offset that.
Since I find the game fun to play and I'm in it for the long haul, I'm okay with what's happening. I'd rather be a little to early than to late.
With that said, now that I know more, I would wait till 14 million chaos legion packs are sold (currently 7,840,408 have sold) and that's when I think those cards will be at their absolute cheapest and you have the least time to go before the supply starts shrinking.
Not financial advice, that's just my opinion and I'll try to buy as much as I can around then, assuming the cards are in fact cheap and something else isn't happening to make them more expensive.
Sorry for such a long reply but hopefully you understand my perspective on the game more now.
If I already spent the money I surely would play too. I am digging myself out the rut I created while in active addiction currently, so no extra money to spend on games.
It'll get better as long as we make the best choices we can from here on out! Even though it is difficult at times and their are plenty of challenges to overcome. I know we can do it.
