100 Cards. One Auction House. No Second Chances.
Get ready for the launch of the Splinterlands Auction House, a groundbreaking new way to acquire cards for your collection! On October 29th, the Auction House opens its doors... and on November 6th, bidding begins on what may become the most sought-after card in the arena.
Meet Heloise the Hollow: a legendary death-earth antihero who refuses to go gentle into that good night. Your opponent won't just fear her powerful melee attacks; they'll fear what happens every time she's destroyed!
Only 100 max-level copies of Heloise will be sold, with each auction lasting 25 hours. Once the last card is gone, that's it. No more copies. No second chances. If you don't win her in the auction, you'll have to convince your fellow battle mages to part with Heloise.
And good luck with that. She is game-changing.
Heloise the Hollow
Heloise d’Armand once led the Dawnbringers, a band of mercenaries that stood against the Chaos Empire. But as defeats mounted and her dream of liberation slipped away, she faced an impossible choice: watch her cause die or sacrifice her loyal followers for the power to achieve her goals.
She chose power. In an instant, her companions' life force surged into her, granting her incredible strength—and twisting her into something else entirely. Something monstrous. She became Heloise the Hollow, a symbol of all that can be lost in pursuit of power.
Whoah! Eight melee damage! And Opportunity to boot. Imagine pairing her with summoners like Nidhoggr, Lorkus, or even Underboss Fabino.
Taunt but only 7 Health. Not a lot of survivability. You could delay her demise by placing another Taunt before her in your lineup...or you could just let it happen. Because, with her two new abilities, death isn't the end for Heloise. Naw, she's just getting started.
Spite
When defeated, 100% chance to counterattack.
Soul Siphon
As long as there is a non-Weary allied unit, self-resurrects with 100% armor and 50% of max health, rounded down. All magic debuffs are removed, and all magic buffs are reapplied. Inflicts Weary on the non-Weary allied unit with the highest health and reduces their health by 50%, rounded up.
Let's break that down. Every time Heloise is defeated, she counterattacks, likely killing something in the process. Then she resurrects with 50% max health. And as long as you have a non-Weary unit on your team, Heloise keeps resurrecting and counterattacking, like a well-oiled engine of glorious destruction.
Yeah. You're gonna want her. But how do you make her yours?
The Art of the Auction
Every 25 hours, a new copy of Heloise the Hollow goes up for bid. The rules? Simple. The stakes? Legendary.
The highest bidder wins when the timer reaches zero. No proxy bids. No extensions. No mercy.
A fresh 25-hour auction begins as soon as the previous ends. Whether you're in Praetoria, Portland, or Perth, everyone gets their shot at a last-minute winning bid without sacrificing sleep (or that pesky day job).
And every 20th card auctioned off will be a Gold Foil, for a total of five (and only five!) Gold Foil versions. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines…
The Auction House interface shows the current high bid and bidder, as well as a complete bid history, where everything is laid bare. Study your rivals' moves and their strategies. Learn from the past so you can dominate the future.
The minimum bid is 10,000 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) or Credits, and new bids must be at least 10,000 more than the current highest bid. If you want to raise the stakes even more, use the text box or the +1K, +5K, and +10K buttons. You can easily reset your bid to the minimum with the (aptly named) MINIMUM button. Worried about being sniped? You can always increase your bid... but you can't lower it.
If you're the high bidder, we'll hold your funds in escrow until you're either outbid (in which case they'll be returned to you) or you win the auction (in which case they'll be sent to the Splinterlands DAO).
Keep an eye on the clock... and your rivals. Remember, there's no proxy bidding. No extensions. When the time expires, the highest bidder claims the prize. That's another card sold. And as each auction ends, your chances of winning grow slimmer. When the last auction is over and the final card is sold, that's it. Just 100 copies of Heloise the Hollow. Ever.
Do you have what it takes to make her yours?

What about the gold foil versions?
Have you guys already made up your mind how that's going to work?
Also wonder how to get the gold foil card?
I'm 99.99% sure these will all go for more than I would ever be willing to pay for a card, but maybe I'll be wrong. Either way, I think it's a really cool idea, and I'm not butt-hurt that it's out of my price range. Party on, whales! A rising tide raises all boats, right?
And this post is great! Whoever wrote it is clever.
cool!👍
gotta love it
OMG what a great way to screw the little players out of a chance to own great cards, well done Splinterlands.

.Oh man... these are probably way out of my price range... but we shall see!
wow time to see the whales fight
Ths clearly is not for "regular" players. Only whales will be able to get this card. I just hope it's not too OP.
Given that this will be running concurrently to the Hall of Legends sales, I don't think there's any way around this cannibalizing sales - whether from the auction card or from the Hall of Legends - and I don't understand why there's this sense of urgency to running the auctions as soon as possible.
I would much rather see Heloise take place after the Hall of Legends has run its course and even offer Heloise as the first Conclave Arcana card.
There also seems to be quite a few questions with respect to GF auctions with very little clarity. Will there only be 5 GF available on pre-determined days? Will there be a GF % chance on all other sale days? If the former, it seems like we are unnecessarily hamstringing the ceiling price while simultaneously lowering the floor price on a per auction basis.
All this said, the auction is a very cool idea. Excited to see how it pans out. Just my $0.02 here
Yes, on each 20th auction day is for Gold Foil.
That does not seem to be the case.

Cool card. That Soul Siphon is amazing! It makes me think that in the future, there would be a summoner that adds defibi... what? That thing. You know what I meant. It adds them to other units.
fire!
Screwing regular players again. It is crap like this that will cause Steemmonsters, Inc. and the game be destroyed. Get a clue!
You tried extorting money from the HIVE DHF with threats and now, this?
Want to onboard others to this game? Not going to happen by catering to your whales. They will soon tire of this game when it is no longer profitable and move on (that will be very soon at the rate things are going).
With the team's abysmal marketing and financial decisions, the game I and many others love will soon be another note in crypto historical documentaries.
Yet another hairbrained idea to extract from the ever-dwindling user base. What regular players?
This sounds crazy and not clear. I take it if you fail in bid then you get money back for next try they could of charged a small amount to burn to help eco
This is really trying to get people to spend more money than they want to
great to watch those whales spend so all good to get DEC up to peg
Does the DEC go to the team?
Just wanted to follow up on here since I never seem to get a reply after sending numerous support questions about the DEC-B which was part of a plan too almost 1-2 years ago....
Seriously, wtf are you clowns doing anymore on here as there has not been an option to do anything with DEC-B yet, I have a good amount of it that I want to get rid of ASAP because sadly, just like every other ungrateful greedy Crypto start up, you seem to forget that without us, you'd be stressed about money especially during times like these where the rich get wealthier and the middle class is getting poorer.
