New Rule: Community Commitment & Reward Eligibility
To ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Hive ecosystem, we will evaluate the long-term commitment of participants when selecting winners. Specifically, we will review past rewards earned and currently held Hive Power (HP) as part of the selection process.
Participants who demonstrate an investor mindset by holding and growing their HP are more likely to be rewarded. Those who consistently extract all rewards without reinvesting into the ecosystem may not be eligible for prizes.
This rule aims to celebrate and encourage commitment to the Hive blockchain, fostering a strong and engaged community.
- Create AMAZING Splinterlands content on the HIVE blockchain. Remember, it should revolve around Splinterlands because we want to reward our incredible community.
- Make your content visually appealing and well-structured. Need help with formatting? Check out the ULTIMATE MARKDOWN TUTORIAL.
- Don't forget to include your Splinterlands referral link. It's a must! You must provide your viewers/readers with a pathway to the Splinterlands. Note that battle links already include your referral.

With the new rule, how do you check someone's HP? I'm asking because I keep most of my HP delegated to @splinterboost.
Your HP is 1564. As shown in the screenshot.
but when the curators check my profile, do they just hover over my stats and see a measly 300 resource credits, or do they have somewhere to actually see my HP?

Hello! Thanks for the upvote. It was a lot lower than it used to be. Maybe I know the reasons? Is it because of the new rules? If so, I have never powered down so I'd like to know what have I done wrong if that's the case.

I use the rewards I earn from these posts to purchase Splinterlands cards, so I don’t retain them as Hive. Would it be more beneficial for the community if I held onto Hive instead of spending it on cards? If that’s the case, I’m considering holding off on card purchases until I accumulate a certain amount of Hive.
I could buy this bacause I turned hive into DEC.

I do the same, but only with a part of my rewards. I think the concern is about writers who take out 70-100% of their writing-income. Hopefully, the team will give some more specific thresholds, soon :-)
I think as long as you leave at least 33% of your rewards in HIVE you will be fine. To be totally safe leave 50%. Turning HIVE into DEC and buying cards should be OK, but is harder to check than what you have left on HIVE. This is just my opinion based on what I read in various posts...
I'd expect something similar, 30% or more has to stay staked in some way. We'll see :-) Thank you for the reply!
just take the HBD, leave the HP there staked. This should suffice everything
I take out around 50% of the HBD, the rest I stake, depending on my want-list. Anyway, if anything changes, I have no problem in converting the HBD into HP, either. Thank you for the reply!
I really like the new rule, and hence did a kind of extended opinion on it. Hope you are able to read through it, maybe even comment, looking forward to feedback! I also took the opportunity to review my progress on HIVE and was quite happy with it.

I understand the new policies. However, how much should I increase? I already have over 3k and have never powered down. As I've seen from the discussions around this that's better than the majority of the participants who have powered down everything or a lot. And every liquid part has also gone to Splinterlands or it's in staked HBD. HBD should certainly count as being invested in the Hive ecosystem.
You are doing well, just continue focusing on your Hive Power and SL assets. It is advised to improve your KE. KE = (Author Rewards + Curation Rewards)/Held HP. HBD certainly exists in the hive ecosystem, but with more hive power you can contribute more back to the community.

may I ask about the new rule?
If a user powers down HP but the HIVE was used to buy second layer tokens or buy in-game items, is he still eligible to join the challenge (and have a chance to get upvotes)? Because he/she does not reflect statement (1) but can be included in statement (2) because he/she is still investing in the ecosystem.
What if the case is like the first question but HIVE is exchanged to HBD and then exchanged back to HIVE when the price of HIVE is cheaper (arbitrage), does it still have the opportunity to get support (upvote)?
As of now, I would recommend focusing on increasing your HP to align with the new policies being adopted, as explained in this post.

Hey, thanks for your comment and upvote. I'm fully aware on the updated rules. And also agree on setting these rules and make the community more aware about hive ethics.
Not totally clear what the exact criteria are that mentioned in the post.
If its purely the KE ratio then i encourage you also to read my upcoming post about this topic.
Even if its only KE ratio between 1-3, i want to honor that and agree on this ethics point especially for these contests. Its been 3.5 year that let to this position not the worst imho but can also be better :), i will take some time to adjust the numbers 🤣.
