A all new feature of battle is now out for Splinterlands and I just took a deep dive into it. In this article I want to go over my first few battles in survival mode, things I learned and what my plans are for the future for it all. What's cool is there's new features and honestly that's whats missing from the game are new front facing changes the players get to see otherwise things tend to start to get stale.
This is also a great way to get people coming back to check out the game again and start taking part in it all.
When first loading up survival mode it looks like I get a run down of how many playable cards I have. Now I'm not 100% sure if they are only card open or if they are also cards I have working on lands but I'm hoping it's not counting the ones working on land or if it is that they don't stop working land if they die.
That's a lot more cards then I thought I had honestly but I'm curious how that stacks up to others so if you now or have a screenshot of your own stack of cards show it off in the comments as I'm very curious.
That being said we went into our first battle. Now take note if I lose the battle every card I used is considered "dead" and can't be used for the rest of the season. That's a pretty high cost at least at the start of the season and I'm curious if something will be in play that would make it so that people wont wait until the last day or two and then enter.
Anyways here's the first battle and it didn't go well. BTW I'm for sure not the best at battles lol even after all of these years!
This battle sadly ended up in a total loss and when I dove into my next battle shortly after that ended up in a loss as well.
However I did take out some of their cards in each round which means those are cards they will not be able to play again which does add a rather interesting twist to it all.
Honestly I'd love to see some kind of stats on this such as how many cards are in play, how many have been knocked out etc for ALL players I think that would be an interesting stat for the team to add. I'm sure there's a lot of cool little features the team could do with this honestly. Even sinks for card revivals or something like that will have to see though.
As you can see I've already lost 11 cards I can no longer play with for the rest of the season. I think I'm going to give it a day or two before I really start hammering on the battles again so I'm not playing vs really capable people and might have more of the lower hanging fruit.
I'm also not sure I'm fully understanding how the rewards works at the end of it all besides the leaderboard glint that I'm seeing so I'll be looking into that for my next update on how things are going.
So far I gotta say it's pretty cool but there's parts that are unclear such as why would I want to play in survival what do I get out of it compared to Wild and Modern?
What I do like and think will be positive is the inflation of DEC has been removed from leaderboards and instead replaced with Glint rewards and I still think those are great solid winnings! If we can get ourselves back to DEC peg here and start burning we will start to see some positive impact on SPS and that will result I feel in more people wanting to come to play because money talks!
- All rewards from this post will go back into buying Splinterlands assets. ** Right now that would mainly be DEC since it's under peg and staking that into land as I need 7.2 million DEC in order to get all my plots running at max. I still have about 5.5 million to go! So consider those locked up funds really.
