There's Only 2 Types of Landowners in Praetoria

Landowners... why are we so awesome?

Are you a landowner in #Praetoria? If yes, tell us about your empire in the comments below ... 🎤

Castle scene.jpg

Have you started your empire in Praetoria yet? Probably best to start out simple. Build and work a few GRAIN farms. If you like farming, build from there. Eventually you might find yourself owning a mythic kingdom!

🎤 ... for now, I'm going to imagine you commented saying "hell yes star, you better believe I am a landowner!"

Nice, because landowners in Praetoria are frikin awesome. Also though, if you're a landowner in Praetoria then--sorry to be the one to tell you--but you're also tragically pigeonholed 🕊️ Like, I guarantee 😮 Literally an open book.

😲 -- "What star?! No way, I'm my own individual!"

But actually, yes. Yes way. My good sir, or good madam. That's because, if you're a landowner in Praetoria, you can ONLY be 2 types of people. There's no third choice. Not even neutral jin.

3 jinsb.jpg

If you watched Avatar the Last Airbender then you're familiar with "neutral" jin.

Wait what? You don't believe me? You don't believe that I can categorize you so easily? You. Who are essentially a complete stranger to me. Not so easily, huh? Okay then. Challenge accepted.

Read on and find out for yourself 💪

There's Only 2 Types (like seriously, only 2 ✌️)

Peakd2025_1_5.jpg

In Praetoria, there's only two types of landowners.

Among Praetorian landowners, there's only two types:

(1) A person who owns a mythic kingdom
(2) A person who wants to own a mythic kingdom

There it is. That's it. I win 🏆 because there are no other persons. None other people. No third category of trailblazing individuals to form an alternative, morally distinct class. No gushing over common natural land plots 😍 while telling everyone how much you hate all your keeps and castles 😠 No. No one is like that. No one ever has been. No ever will be.

Why? For so, so many reasons. Here are just a few...

Human Nature aka the Flex

How about 'human nature' for starters, and the need to flex?

I bet if you're alive right now, you have some kind of prideful, competitive streak within you that makes you flex. Even if you don't try to. Even if you don't enjoy it. Even if you vehemently deny it to yourself and to others 😇 Even if you don't realize you're even doing it! It might be subtle. It might be low-key. It might be passive-aggressive. It might be aggressive-aggressive 😠 You might flex up. You might flex down. But either way, there's no doubt. If you're a human being. You flex. At least once in a while.

Why? Because humans are competitive by nature! That's not even a fault or a character flaw, btw--it's an evolutionary adaptation. A hold-over from our hardy, refuse-to-die ancestors. You probably wouldn't even exist if your ancestors were lazy and didn't care much; if they had not burned a little bit of that "competitive human nature" into your genetics.

In other words, being competitive, showing off, flexing, or whatever you want to call it. It's part of being a human. And speaking of flex in #Splinterlands then, what is more flex than mythic kingdom? The answer is ... nothing, my friends. Nothing 💪

One way to flex in Splinterlands is by owning your own mythic kingdom!

Passive Income via Tax Collection

Another reason is that mythic kingdoms contain a limited number of existing Praetorian buildings (CASTLE or KEEP). These buildings have special abilities that no other buildings have. As most folks know, Tax Collection is one of these abilities. Keeps collect taxes from resources harvested in their own tract. Castles collect taxes from every tract in their entire region.

Peakd2025_1_5h copy.png

Want to be the taxman? Instead of being screwed by the taxman? Well here's your chance!

So, if you've ever thought it might be more fun to sit back and collect taxes, rather than working your ass off and having someone else take a huge cut off your paycheck... Well here's probably your one and only chance. Having a mythic kingdom means that you're always getting a cut of the resources being harvested in the plots around you. GRAIN, RESEARCH and SPS for now. Much more to come in the future. Plus, the more your tract/region flourishes, the more resources flow right into your treasury!

Trifoil Runes and Player-Minted NFTs

Something you might not know about Keeps and Castles... they're also the only buildings that can produce a TRIFOIL RUNE. Don't know what that is? Don't worry. The ability to produce them hasn't even been unlocked yet. Once it is though, players will need them to mint their own NFTs for in-game use.

What does all that mean? That means that if you don't have a mythic kingdom, and you ever want to get into player-minted NFTs, you're going to have to buy or trade for Trifoil Runes with merchants on the resources marketplace.

Peakd2025_1_5g copy.png

Trifoil Runes will be required for player-minted NFTs. They can only be produced in Keeps and Castles. Alternatively, they will be available for purchase or trade in the resources marketplace.

Will Trifoil Runes be expensive? I have no idea. For real, I don't. I don't think anyone has any idea at this point. All I know is that I definitely want to mint my own NFTs for in-game use. No matter what happens. For me, that's a big reason I bought a KEEP 💪 That way, I'll always have access to Trifoil Runes, no matter how expensive they might get in the future 📈

Crowning Your Royal Family

Finally, if you own a mythic plot, you're royalty! Part of the Praetorian Royal Class. For life. End of story. An immortal, magical metaverse #Splinterlands king or queen... an NFT-based royal title you could literally hand down to your children. Them to their children. If the game survives 🙏 Think about it! Pretty cool 😍

Peakd2025_1_5d copy.jpg

An NFT-based royal title you could hand down to your children, and their children's children.

So anyway, if any of that appeals to you. If any of this is something that calls you deep inside. Then just don't fight it! You can do this. You must find a way to buy one of the few remaining mythic plots on the market before they're gone. Think you can't? Read on to see some amazing deals. You might just be surprised...

But I can't afford it 😭... or can you 🤔?

Let's be real about this. The state of the Praetorian economy right now. It's not amazing. Real estate prices are near all-time lows. That of course has some folks down 😓 On the other hand, if you're a bargain seeking land-owner, looking to make an upgrade to mythical royal status, this might be your one last opportunity to make it happen!

Just one click separates you from Praetorian royalty! Will you make it happen?

Current Prices for Keeps and Castles in Praetoria

Right now, the average price of all mythic plots listed on the market is $3,780.67 USD (90,736/24). The average price for a mythic plot with a Keep is $2,288.38 ($52,256/21) with a Median Price of $1,800.00 (KEEP). The average price for a mythic plot with a Castle is $12,826.67 ($38,480/3) with a Median Price of $9,480.00 (CASTLE). For this article, we'll use the median price as our benchmark for a current fair market price.

Graph2.jpg

Now okay, that might still sound a little pricey. Did I just thirst trap you. Dammit star 😟 No. But wait! Averages are just averages, right? And what I'm about to show you below are some outlier bargains, listed right now, just waiting for you (or me, or someone else) to pounce 👀 and that are less than half the current market price!

The Best Current Deals!

If you look at the distribution of prices in the chart above, you'll see they're kind of all over the place. That means, unfortunately, there's not really a consensus on fair market value. Not taking into account other factors for now (like tract or region productivity) let's focus on median price for current listing and use that as our assumed fair market value. Even if it's not perfect, it's probably the best we have for now.

Also, let's assume for the most part that people are deal hunters here. So let's also forget about Castles for now--definitely more expensive 🤑 In fact, let's just forget about anything other than the two best priced deals on the market right now for mythic kingdom plots! Honestly and truly, I think for most people, if you are really going to buy one right now, it should be one of these two below.

(Disclaimer: None of these plots are mine. I don't know either owner. No relation. I don't care if you buy them or don't. In fact, after writing this article, I'm kind of hoping you don't because I might want to now! 😅)

"BRIARWOOD" | Broken Lands Tract 3

Peakd2025_1_5e copy.jpg

Description

Our first deal comes from the Briarwood region of the BROKEN LANDS.

According to the listing:

"Briarwood is located east of Lake Cael Kuva in the Northwestern region of the Broken Lands, sheltered within a great forest."

The land type is swamp. Death and water are its elemental, synergistic splinters. It looks beautiful and green with orange flowers. They look kind of like poppies, my favorite local wildflower. Plus what looks like some great marshland to explore and maybe do some kayaking, fishing and hunting. Imagine the whole family there for holidays! 👨‍👨‍👦

Castle-2.gif

Price

One thing I really like about this listing is the price. It's quite literally the best deal you'll find right now for a keep. On the entire marketplace. With median price at $1,800 USD, this one is selling at around 62% below current market! It's quite a deal.

Adjacent Listings

I also like the fact that there are very few other plots for sale in Briarwood. In fact, there are only 9 other plots for sale anywhere in the entire region. That could indicate the region is more on the stable side, at least for now, and being run by more dedicated iron-handed players. Those players tend to produce more resources and, therefore, more taxes to collect. Definitely check that our before buying though. See what's up and report back in the comments. Honestly that would be a fun conversation. Especially do your diligence here if tax collection is a high priority for you.

"PEMBROOK" | Great Lowlands Tract 9

Peakd2025_1_5f copy.jpg

Description

The second deal is from the Pembrook region of the GREAT LOWLANDS.

According to the listing:

"Pembrook nestles within the eastern foothills of the Daigenloft Mountain range in the Great Lowlands, northwest of the city of Miterstedt."

The land type is mountain. Fire and death are its elemental, synergistic splinters. It has especially breathtaking mountain-side views. Incredible hiking, rock-climbing, skiing and other adventures around every corner!

Pembrook-GIF.gif

Price

Again I really like the price here. It is the second best deal you'll find for a keep, coming is at about 61% below current market! These are the kinds of prices that we (hopefully) will never see again in our lifetime. Once-in-a-lifetime potential. For a basement bargain deal. It's hard for me to even pass on this.

Adjacent Listings

In this case though, I might look hard at the tract in Pembrook where this Keep is located. It looks like the owner (aatrox) is liquidating most or all of their holdings in that region. Tbh if you're ready to go all-in, this could be a great opportunity to get your mythic kingdom + a good chunk of resources producing plots in the exact same location. On the other hand, if you're not going to be able to activate, work and harvest those plots (70 out of the 100 plots in Tract 9 alone are currently listed, all for below market price too) then you could end up buying a Keep in a low- to no-activity area. At least in the short term. Think carefully on this one. Think about which type of buyer you are. Also, think about how much land your account can support. If it's not a lot, then tbh I'd focus in more on the Briarwood listing above, jmo.

image.png

70 out of the 100 plots in Tract 9 are current listed, all mostly below or significantly below the current market. Dead-end? Or opportunity? That's up to you!

Conclusion

If you've ever wanted to be one those landowners who owns a mythic kingdom, rather than one who wants to own a mythic kingdom, now is your chance! Considering the cost that some are paying for promo cards these days, mythic kingdom plots don't seem nearly as unreachable as they once were... for now. If you want it, make it happen! 💪

Before reading this post I didn't even know I might have liked to have a mythic kingdom... now instead I know I NEED one 🤣 !LOL

Awesome post! If I only had the money to buy one, I would have been probably sold ahahah but it seems I'll keep being an humble peasant.

I always try to use the word mucho around my Spanish-speaking friends.
It means a lot to them.
