Lux Aeterna has recently held a ghost card tournament for invited participants. The prizes offered were very enticing with up to the top 30 players guaranteed with SPS prizes.
And since it's a ghost card event, everyone has the same card collection available to them which evens out the playing field. I won't need to rent expensive Rebellion cards as well.
The only problem I encountered with this tournament is that there were so many choices available to me and I got confused on the selection of cards. I'm also not very familiar with the abilities of the new Rebellion cards at maximum level.
I was worried that I wouldn't win a single match since my opponents were players in the diamond and champion leagues. But through a few lucky lineups, I managed to squeeze in three wins out of seven, lading me in the sixth position. (Out of eight players, that is.)
Here's one of my winning battles:

This is a very interesting battle as it is only limited to the earth splinter monsters. The rule set includes rise of the commons, healed out, and counterspell. My opponent chose Underboss Fabino, giving melee damage buff to Venari Knifer and Venari Scout, which is a good strategy to make. But if I were to make that call, I would have chosen to give poison to one of my enemy units.
For my strategy, I used Risqruel Drath for the first time, giving taunt and redemption to my Venari Marksrat. Since learning that Quilliun Legionary had bloodlust, I placed it in between two martyr monsters, hoping that it could further increase its overall stats.
And my plan worked well. Quilliun Legionary received two stat buffs from the martyrs and was basically a monstrous beast compared to the units left in my opponent's field.
Quilliun triggered bloodlust three times and the match ended at the sixth round. This was my first time discovering this monster's potential. It could very well replace Quora once Chaos Legion leaves modern.
Overall, the ghost card tournament was really fun. I had a glimpse of what peak battles look like. This gave me an insight of what to focus on building my collection. I would say this tournament was very rewarding, both in the SPS prize and experience I gained.
